Multi Sectoral Supervisor (Saida)

Particularly involved in the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the first cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in around twenty countries, SI's teams - 2000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers - work with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

Solidarités International (SI) is determined to prevent and fight all type of abuse – all act of exploitation, abuse and/or sexual harassment (SEAH) against members of beneficiary communities or collaborators, fraud, corruption, violation of persons and/or property, funding of activities harmful to human rights – that could be perpetrated in the frame of its interventions. Mission:

Under the line management of the Multi‑Sector Programme Manager (MPM), the Multi‑Sectoral Supervisor (MS) will coordinate a team of Field Officers (FO), in order to ensure the implementation of SI activities, mainly on Shelter, WASH and FS/L Sectors under a variety of grants (with Donors including CDCS, LHF, etc.). In doing that, he/she will also coordinate with Shelter/WASH Specialist (S/W Spc.) to ensure the technical viability and quality of said activities; as well as to ensure communities and relevant stakeholders’ involvement in SI field operations.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Team management:

  • Line management of Field Officers responsible for field implementation of different activities.

 

Quality and monitoring follow-up:

  • In coordination with MEAL department, the MS is responsible to coordinate the flow of information to feed internal and external monitoring and follow‑up tools.
  • Organize and maintain a communication network among partners to ensure the regular flow of information, conducive to efficient monitoring and external and internal reporting and follow up

Setting up the activities /control and supervision

  • Participate in the design of hard and soft implementation tools
  • Contribute to the design and adjustment of community approach and community follow‑up if necessary
  • Supervise the activities of his/her team and pay regular visits to field activities
  • Plan the weekly activities for his/her team and have them approved by the MPM
  • Organize and carry out, with his/her team, the tasks assigned by his/her the MPM
  • Ensure that standards and instructions given by the MPM, as well as SI procedures, are followed
  • Respect schedules and deadlines agreed upon with the MPM
  • Report back any problems and constraints encountered during the course of the activities and suggest operational solutions
  • Train his/her team members to use and maintain the available tools correctly
  • Ensure that all paperwork procedure is followed in respect to SI and national standards.
  • Regular check for all hard files to ensure that all are properly filled and archived.
  • Ensure that all data are updated and files are cleaned with all the requirements

 

Logistics and Administration

  • Ensure that security procedures are followed by members of his/her team
  • Monitor the quality and quantity of material delivered to working sites
  • Ensure the receipt and storage of material and equipment necessary for his/her work to be carried out on site
  • Carry on a performance appraisal on a regular basis for the team members under his/her supervision
  • Plan tool and material needs (request from the stock)
  • Anticipate administrative issues (requests in advance)
  • Anticipate logistics issues (transport, communication means...)

Reporting / communication

  • Keep his/her monitoring tools and files archived in the Solidarités office, accessible to MPM
  • Draw up and submit a weekly task report (which should include progress made by the team) to MPM
  • Take part in the drafting of the monthly program pack
  • Establish and maintain good relations with local participants and communities (populations) in the operational fields
  • Listen to the populations and local participants in the field and report to his/her project manager any non-technical or safety-related issues which could affect the activities or safety of Solidarités International teams
  • Organize and participate in the bi-weekly coordination meetings with the identification team
  • Follow-up referrals from the hotline or other departments and make sure that feedback are provided

 

The Supervisor may be asked to drive SI cars and respecting the driving policies set by the logistic department and attached to this document.

A salaried post : 1615  USD as basic salary + COLA +  transport + phone allowance 

Vacation : 1.75 paid leave per month
