Psychologist - GBV

Position Overview


The Psychologist will provide individual mental health support to adolescent girls and women as part of a project focusing on integrated sexual and reproductive health and rights in crisis-affected areas. Based in Amel center in Burj El Barajneh, the Psychologist will work closely with the project team, composed of one GBV Social Worker, one GBV Case Worker and one Field Coordinator, to ensure quality psychosocial support, assist the social worker in her activities, and handle referrals when needed. The position is part-time, for a duration of 9 months, until March 2026.

Responsibility #1 - Support to psychosocial and awareness activities

  • Assist the GBV Social Worker in the planning and delivery of psychosocial support sessions
  • Contribute to the facilitation of awareness-raising sessions targeting adolescent girls and women
  • Help ensure that activities are adapted to the needs and age groups of participants

 

Responsibility #2 - Provision of individual psychological support

  • Conduct one-on-one psychological counseling sessions when needed, including:
    • Cases referred by the social worker or case worker
    • External referrals received from other service providers or organizations
    • Beneficiaries identified through case management as needing mental health support
  • Ensure proper documentation, confidentiality, and ethical standards in all individual sessions
  • Coordinate with the project team to ensure a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to care
  • Participate in internal meetings and case discussions as required

 

Responsibility #3 - Reporting and coordination

  • Report individual information in the personal file
  • Coordinate internally with the team members
  • Participate in routine team meetings such as daily briefings and weekly meeting
  • Support in the development and implementation of activities (with external stakeholders and internally at Amel)
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements

 

Requirements, Skills and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Psychology is required. A Master's degree in Clinical Psychology or a related field, along with a license to practice, is also required
  • At least two years of working experience with NGO
  • Knowledge of ​​mental health in complex emergencies (IASC guidelines, Psychological First Aid, mhGAP…)
  • Excellent Arabic skills, English is preferred, French is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability for active listening, stress management, and dealing with difficult scenarios
  • Previous experience in GBV
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism while providing services to beneficiaries or working with internal support staff
  • Demonstrates ability to adhere to ethical considerations and principles about working with vulnerable populations
  • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity
