Job Description:

To ensure the safety and security of LOST staff, students, visitors, premises, and property within the framework of MAKANI project.

Key Responsibilities:

Premises Security:

  • Monitor and control entry and exit points of the school/education center.
  • Ensure that only authorized personnel and visitors are allowed access.
  • Patrol the premises regularly to identify any suspicious activity or security breaches.

Protection of Property:

  • Prevent theft, vandalism, or unauthorized removal of materials and equipment.
  • Ensure all doors, windows, and gates are locked securely when required.

Health & Safety Monitoring:

  • Check for fire hazards, unsafe conditions, and report maintenance needs.
  • Respond to alarms or emergencies and notify relevant authorities if needed.

Visitor Management:

  • Maintain a visitor logbook with names, identification, and purpose of visit.
  • Politely direct visitors and respond to their inquiries.

Support to Program Activities:

  • Assist in setting up for events or education-related activities when needed.
  • Monitor student arrival and departure if the school is part of the project.

Reporting:

  • Report any incidents or unusual activity to the supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain a daily security log of activities and observations.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of secondary school education (preferred).
  • Previous experience as a guard or in a security-related role (especially in NGO or education settings) is an asset.
  • Physically fit and alert.
  • Basic reading and writing skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Trustworthy, reliable, and punctual.

NB: LOST has zero tolerance for Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of beneficiaries. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the code of conduct, that enshrines the principles of PSEA, always (Both during work hours and outside work hours). Familiarization with, and adherence to, the code of conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.
