Referral Focal Point /Hermel

LOST is seeking to recruit a Referral Focal Point in Hermel to support in Makani Project.

Job Description:

The Referral Focal Point plays a key role in identifying, documenting, and referring vulnerable children and adolescents in need of specialized services within the framework of the Makani program. The position ensures that referrals to education, protection, psychosocial support (PSS), health, and legal services are made efficiently and followed up on appropriately, in line with UNICEF and national standards for child protection and case management.

Key Responsibilities:

Identification and Referral:

  • Identify children, adolescents, and caregivers in need of additional services through community outreach, center activities, or partner referrals.
  • Conduct initial assessments to determine appropriate referrals for protection, education, health, or psychosocial services.

Coordination of Services:

  • Maintain an up-to-date service mapping of available services in the area (e.g., legal aid, shelters, health clinics, specialized education).
  • Coordinate with internal staff and external partners to ensure timely and appropriate referral pathways.

Case Follow-Up:

  • Track and document all referrals made, ensuring follow-up and feedback from receiving services.
  • Monitor progress and ensure cases are closed only when services are completed or no longer needed.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate, confidential case files and referral tracking databases.
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports on referral trends, gaps, and challenges.
  • Flag high-risk or urgent cases for immediate intervention or escalation.

Capacity Building & Awareness:

  • Support Makani staff in understanding referral procedures and basic protection principles.
  • Conduct awareness sessions for beneficiaries and caregivers about available services and rights.

Coordination and Networking:

  • Participate in coordination meetings with other NGOs, CBOs, and service providers to strengthen referral networks.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Community Development, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in child protection, case management, social work, or community services.
  • Knowledge of Makani’s integrated approach and referral pathways is a strong asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with vulnerable children and families in a respectful, confidential, and supportive manner.
  • Good documentation and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Arabic (required) and basic English (preferred).

Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the code of conduct, that enshrines the principles of PSEA, always (Both during work hours and outside work hours). Familiarization with, and adherence to, the code of conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training. All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.
