Teacher for Undocumented Children (Grades 1 to 8)

Purpose:
The teacher will be responsible for delivering inclusive, safe, and quality educational sessions to undocumented children (Grades 1–8) who are not enrolled in formal education. The focus is on foundational literacy, numeracy, and life skills, using child-centered and age-appropriate methodologies aligned with national and organizational guidelines.
 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured and engaging lessons in literacy, numeracy, science, and basic life skills based on adapted curricula.
  • Prepare and implement weekly lesson plans tailored to students’ learning levels and needs.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment that supports psychosocial well-being.
  • Use active learning, differentiated instruction, and participatory techniques appropriate for mixed-age and mixed-ability classrooms.
  • Conduct baseline, midline, and endline assessments as per program standards.
  • Track learner attendance and progress, and report any protection concerns.
  • Participate in capacity-building sessions and technical follow-ups led by the Education Officer.
  • Coordinate with caregivers and social workers to ensure child retention and motivation.
  • Promote principles of inclusion, child protection, and positive discipline in the classroom.
  • Support outreach and registration efforts, when needed, in collaboration with center staff.

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field. A teaching diploma is a plus.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience teaching children in vulnerable or marginalized contexts.
  • Previous work with refugee, undocumented, or out-of-school children is highly desirable.
  • Strong classroom management and lesson planning skills.
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity and experience with inclusive education practices.
  • Fluent in Arabic; knowledge of English or French is a plus.
  • Commitment to child safeguarding, inclusion, and non-discrimination.
