The Objective of the Job
The project officer will spend the majority of his time in the field, conducting site assessments, supervising moderate rehabilitation works, and overseeing Cash-for-Rent distributions, while also managing essential office-based tasks such as reporting, planning, and stakeholder coordination. His hands-on engagement will ensure interventions are technically sound, community-driven, and delivered on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Data Collection & Validation
- Develop and implement standardized data-collection tools (digital and paper-based) for all relevant interventions.
- Train field staff on data-entry procedures and conduct routine spot checks to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
Database Management & Maintenance
- Create and maintain centralized project databases using tools such as KoBoToolbox, ODK, Excel, or Access.
- Ensure data integrity through regular audits, back-ups, and version control.
Analysis & Reporting
- Generate regular reports (weekly/monthly) including dashboards, beneficiary counts, and activity progress updates.
- Conduct trend and gap analyses and share insights with program teams for informed decision-making.
Collaboration & Coordination
- Work closely with MEAL staff to harmonize data collection and ensure alignment with donor and organizational frameworks.
- Coordinate with Education, Shelter, and Program teams to integrate IM products into planning and reporting cycles.
Capacity Building & Support
- Provide training and mentorship to staff on data tools, visualization techniques, and quality assurance.
- Engage with partner NGOs or external IM specialists to exchange knowledge and standardize data practices.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Apply data quality checks and protocols in line with donor (e.g., UNHCR) and organizational standards.
- Ensure that all data handling complies with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
Knowledge Management
- Maintain organized digital and physical records of datasets, reports, and analysis tools.
- Represent the organization in coordination meetings and present IM-related findings when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in IM, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
- Proficiency in digital data-collection platforms (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK) and data analysis/visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong skills in Excel (pivot tables, formulas; VBA is a plus).
- Experience with GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS) is an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both Arabic and English.
