Food Production Coach

LOST is seeking for a dedicated and skilled Food Production Coach to train, mentor, and support beneficiaries from underprivileged or vulnerable communities as they prepare for employment or entrepreneurship in the food industry. The coach will deliver hands-on training in food handling, safety, and production techniques, while also building participants’ confidence, discipline, and job readiness. This role is essential for helping individuals gain the practical skills and mindset needed to succeed in food manufacturing, processing, or small-scale catering ventures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver practical and theoretical training in basic food production, food handling, hygiene, and small-scale food processing
  • Teach beneficiaries to operate kitchen or production equipment safely and efficiently
  • Provide coaching on food safety standards, including HACCP, GMP, and personal hygiene
  • Train on portioning, packaging, labeling, and basic storage and shelf-life practices
  • Support beneficiaries in developing soft skills such as teamwork, punctuality, and workplace discipline
  • Adapt training content to suit learners with varying literacy and skill levels
  • Conduct assessments to track progress and provide feedback on both technical and behavioral development
  • Support job placement, apprenticeships, or microenterprise initiatives by preparing trainees for real-world expectations
  • Maintain accurate training documentation, attendance records, and evaluation reports
  • Collaborate with project staff, local partners, and employers to ensure training aligns with market needs

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in food production, food processing, catering, or a related field
  • Prior experience in training or coaching, particularly in community or grassroots programs, is highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of food safety standards and basic kitchen/production procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills with the ability to mentor diverse groups
  • Fluency in local language(s); working knowledge of English is a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational certification or diploma in food production, nutrition, or culinary arts is a plus
  • Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and reporting

  • Experience working with NGOs, women’s groups, youth, or livelihood projects
  • Understanding of microenterprise, home-based food businesses, or informal sector dynamics

Working Conditions:

  • On-site at training centers, kitchens, or community spaces
  • May require occasional field visits or travel to satellite locations
  • Flexible working hours to accommodate batch timings and local needs

All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.
