The S4D Facilitator is responsible for planning, implementing, and facilitating Sport for Development activities with children and youth in line with program goals. The role leverages sports as a tool to promote life skills, inclusion, education, health, gender equality, peacebuilding, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate engaging, inclusive, and safe sport-based sessions focused on life skills and development outcomes.
- Deliver structured S4D curriculum to children and youth, adapting as necessary to meet local context and participant needs.
- Promote positive values such as teamwork, respect, discipline, and leadership through sports.
- Support monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) by documenting activities, tracking attendance, and collecting feedback.
- Ensure safeguarding and child protection protocols are followed at all times.
- Assist in organizing community events, sports tournaments, or awareness-raising campaigns.
- Build rapport and maintain a positive relationship with participants, parents, schools, and community stakeholders.
- Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and capacity-building workshops.
Qualifications:
- A background in education, social work, sports science, community development, or a related field is an asset.
- Prior experience in facilitation, coaching, or working with children and youth, especially in community settings.
- Knowledge of Sport for Development principles and best practices (preferred).
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage diverse groups, including marginalized or vulnerable populations.
- Commitment to gender equality, inclusion, and safeguarding.
Working Conditions:
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays, depending on program activities.
- Physical ability to lead sports sessions.
- Local travel to community sites or schools may be required.
Desirable:
- Certification in coaching, youth work, first aid, or child protection.
- Experience working with NGOs, schools, or sport-related initiatives.
