Summary:
The Enumerator/Data Collector will be responsible for conducting accurate and confidential field data collection using structured tools such as Kobo Toolbox. Key duties include attending training sessions, conducting surveys as per sampling plans while ensuring informed consent and ethical standards, accurately recording responses, and participating in quality assurance and debriefing activities. The role also involves documenting field activities, following up on distributions, and supporting data processing tasks. Candidates should have prior data collection experience, proficiency in digital tools, strong communication skills, and sensitivity to cultural contexts. The enumerator will report to the M&E Coordinator, receive regular supervision, and be provided with a communication allowance while adhering to agreed schedules.
Purpose of the Assignment:
The enumerator will be responsible for collecting accurate, reliable, and confidential data from respondents using structured survey tools.
Key Responsibilities:
• Attend mandatory orientation sessions to understand the project goals, survey instruments, data collection platform (Kobo Toolbox) data collection protocols, and ethical considerations.
• Conduct interviews or surveys with respondents as per the sampling plan, ensuring informed consent is obtained and confidentiality is maintained.
• Accurately record responses using the provided tools.
• Adhere strictly to the survey protocol and ethical guidelines, including sensitivity to cultural nuances and diversity.
• Clearly explain the objectives and procedures of the survey to respondents.
• Reporting and Documentation
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of all data collected and promptly submit findings via the designated platform.
• Participate in quality assurance checks, including spot checks, supervisor reviews, and data verification exercises.
• Address and rectify any identified issues in collaboration with the M&E Coordinator.
• Sign and adhere to the Code of Conduct, including confidentiality and ethical behavior clauses.
• Participate in debriefing sessions and provide feedback for improving data collection processes.
Other Responsibilities:
• Follow up on distributions at the field level to ensure smooth and effective operations and perform quality control activities.
• Ensure all activities are properly documented, including beneficiary lists, and field visit reports.
• Prepare observation reports and document findings from regular visits to ensure quality and compliance with project standards, assist in data processing tasks, and perform any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Previous experience in field data collection is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in using data collection tools and software (e.g., Kobo, MS Forms).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Sensitivity to cultural diversity and ability to communicate in local languages is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
Reporting and Supervision
• Enumerators will report directly the M&E Coordinator.
• Regular check-ins and supervision will be provided to ensure data quality and address challenges promptly.
Logistics and Remuneration
• Enumerators will receive a communication allowance.
• Enumerators are expected to adhere to the agreed work schedule and timelines.
