Lawyer - Akkar (Part-time)

We are looking for an experienced Lawyer to be based in Akkar (Part-time, 2/3 days per week). 

The Lawyer is responsible for providing legal counseling, documentation support, and rights-based awareness to newly arrived Syrian individuals and families in Akkar. The lawyer ensures access to justice, civil documentation, and protection from exploitation, in line with Lebanese law and humanitarian standards.

Main Tasks:

1. Legal Counseling  

  • Offer confidential legal advice on residency, civil documentation (birth, marriage, death), housing, labor rights, and family law. 
  • Support clients in navigating Lebanese legal and administrative systems. 
  • Assist with legal procedures including notarization, affidavits, and appeals. 
  • Identify protection risks and refer cases requiring psychosocial or specialized support. 

2. Documentation & Legal Support 

  • Help clients obtain or renew legal documents (e.g., ID cards, birth certificates, residency permits). 
  • Draft legal documents and liaise with relevant authorities when needed. 
  • Monitor legal developments affecting refugees and displaced persons. 

3. Legal Awareness & Community Engagement 

  • Conduct group awareness sessions on legal rights, procedures, and protection mechanisms. 
  • Develop accessible legal information materials tailored to Syrian communities. 
  • Promote understanding of Lebanese law and refugee rights through culturally sensitive outreach. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law; specialization in human rights or refugee law is an asset. 
  • Valid license to practice law in Lebanon. 
  • Previous experience in legal aid or refugee support. 
  • Strong knowledge of Lebanese civil, labor, and residency laws. 
  • Experience working with displaced populations, especially Syrians
  • Empathetic, client-centered approach with strong communication skills. 
  • Ability to simplify complex legal concepts for non-legal audiences. 
  • Familiarity with humanitarian protection principles and referral systems.
