Outreach worker - Akkar (4 positions)

We are looking for an Outreach Volunteer to be based in Akkar (Part-time, 3/4 days per week) to support community-based outreach activities targeting newly arrived displaced Syrians in Akkar. The volunteer plays a key role in building trust, sharing information, and connecting individuals with available services and support networks.

Main Tasks:

1. Community Engagement 

  • Conduct door-to-door visits or attend community gatherings to identify needs and share information. 
  • Build respectful, trust-based relationships with displaced families and individuals. 
  • Facilitate two-way communication between communities and service providers. 

2. Information Sharing & Referral 

  • Distribute leaflets, flyers, or verbal guidance on available services (legal aid, MHPSS, Protection, shelter). 
  • Refer individuals to relevant programs or partners based on expressed needs. 
  • Provide basic orientation on rights, safety, and access to assistance. 
  • Support in the information and awareness sessions 
  • Support in destring dignity kits and other aid items  
  • Report protection concerns or urgent needs to Tabitha staff 

Requirements:

  • No formal education required; prior volunteer or community work is a plus. 
  • Familiarity with local communities and cultural dynamics in Akkar . 
  • Arabic fluency required

  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills. 
  • Respectful, non-judgmental attitude toward diverse populations. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Commitment to confidentiality and humanitarian principles.
