SEL Facilitator

The René Moawad Foundation has a zero tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of beneficiaries.  Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility and all staff are required to adhere to the Code of Conduct, that enshrines principles of PSEA, always (both during work hours and outside work hours).  Familiarization with, and adherence to, the Code of Conduct is an essential requirement of all staff, in addition to related mandatory training.  All staff must ensure that they understand and act in accordance with this clause.

Major Responsibilities: 

 

  • Design and prepare SEL and recreational activities that align with learning objectives.
  • Ensure activities cater to different age groups, developmental levels, and diverse backgrounds.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.
  • Guide participants through SEL activities that develop self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
  • Lead recreational activities that promote physical well-being, teamwork, and stress relief.
  • Encourage active participation, engagement, and collaboration among participants.
  • Adapt activities as needed to meet the needs and interests of the group.
  • Observe participants for emotional and social needs or challenges.
  • Provide support, encouragement, and positive reinforcement.
  • Facilitate discussions around feelings, empathy, and conflict resolution.
  • Foster trust, respect, and open communication within the group.
  • Manage group dynamics to ensure everyone feels heard and included.
  • Address conflicts sensitively and constructively.
  • Assess participants’ progress in social and emotional skills.
  • Collect feedback to improve future sessions.
  • Reflect on the effectiveness of activities and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Share insights and progress reports as appropriate.

 

 

Professional Standards:

All RMF staff are required to adhere to the RMF policies and practices with respect to child protection minimum standards, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Child Development, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Relevant certifications in SEL, trauma-informed care, or counseling are a plus.
  • Proven experience working with children, youth, or adults in educational, counseling, or community settings.
  • Prior experience facilitating SEL programs, group activities, or recreational sessions preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Social and Emotional Learning frameworks and principles.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging SEL and recreational activities tailored to diverse age groups and backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution, empathy building, and fostering positive group dynamics.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development.
  • Ability to observe and respond to social-emotional needs and challenges sensitively.
  • Patient, empathetic, and approachable demeanor.
  • Strong leadership and group management skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing group needs and environments.
  • Passionate about promoting emotional well-being and social skills development.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports on participant progress and program outcomes.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
