Special Education Teacher

The Special Education Teacher provides children with disabilities with learning activities and experiences designed to help them reach their full potential, fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.

 

Tasks:

  • Assess children’s skills and learning requirements.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  • Prepare annual, monthly, weekly and daily plans and submit them on time to the Special Education Operations Supervisor.
  • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Adapt learning materials to students’ needs.
  • Report to the Special Education Operations Supervisor all the success stories, challenges and progress of the students.
  • Monitor children’s behavioral patterns and arrange appropriate interventions if needed.
  • Manage classroom crises and resolve conflicts.
  • Inform the parents about their children’s performance and potential problems under the supervision of the Special Education Operations Supervisor.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Collaborate with the physiotherapists, the speech and psycho motor therapists, the psychologist, the social worker and the parents to help children develop and socialize under the supervision of the Special Education Operations Supervisor.
  • Coach/mentor the Special Education Assistant Teacher.
  • Ensure the safety of the children during the bus trips in the early morning and in the afternoon.
  • Ensure a safe pick up of the children from the bus to the classroom and vice versa.
  • Attend and participate in all required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents.
  • Maintain confidentiality 
  • Show understanding and commitment to child safeguarding policy and inclusion principles
