Protection Case Worker

Al Midan is seeking an experienced Protection Case Worker to support its protection programming. The Case Worker will be responsible for implementing comprehensive protection case management for individuals at heightened risk. Under the supervision of the Protection Case Management Officer, the Case Worker will ensure effective and high-quality case management services. It is anticipated that the caseload will average 30 active cases at any given time.

Al Midan NGO maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) of beneficiaries. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is everyone’s responsibility, and all staff must adhere to the Code of Conduct that enshrines the principles of PSEA at all times (during and outside work hours). Familiarity with and adherence to the Code of Conduct, in addition to mandatory related training, is an essential requirement for all staff.

Major Responsibilities

1. Protection Case Management

  • Conduct household visits and center-based interviews to assess the needs of clients and families.
  • Develop and implement action plans with identified clients and families in line with their needs, capacities, and goals.
  • Discuss available choices and alternatives, involving clients and families in decision-making.
  • Assess risks and support clients in understanding relevant protection risks.
  • Link clients and families with support groups, networks, and community-based resources when appropriate.
  • Receive and manage referrals of clients and families with specific needs (including through Refugee Outreach Volunteers).
  • Provide clients with information on rights, entitlements, and available services (including beyond Al Midan’s scope).
  • Monitor, review, and follow up on services provided to each case.
  • Ensure complete and updated documentation for every case.
  • Determine case closure when appropriate.
  • Provide accountability to clients, families, and communities.
  • Deliver direct psychosocial counseling and coordinate specialized services when needed.

2. Data Management and Reporting

  • Manage, file, and store case data confidentially.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly work plans for review by the Case Management Officer.
  • Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and report challenges in program implementation.
  • Participate in weekly reporting and planning meetings to ensure quality case management and compliance with reporting standards.

3. Coordination and Representation

  • Contribute to updating service mapping of providers in the area and stay informed on available services.
  • Receive referrals from other agencies (per case allocation by the Case Management Officer) and provide feedback as appropriate, respecting confidentiality.
  • Advocate for individuals and families to access services and support them in effectively voicing their needs and concerns.

Job Requirements

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in case management.
  • Experience working with refugee populations is preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving ability, creativity, and flexibility.
  • Strongteam spirit and ability to work in multicultural environments.
  • Ability to handle pressure and work overtime when required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong reporting skills.

Education

  • University degree in Social Work or a related field (with a strong case management component preferred).
  • Case Management Training (required).

  • Proactive approach to identifying and addressing protection risks.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to field sites to provide on-site support.
