Social Worker - Beirut

Key responsibilities  

Accountability and Complexity

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support 

  • Provide one-to-one PSS sessions for beneficiaries with MH issues. 
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments for patients referred by healthcare staff. 
  • Identify social determinants of health (e.g., poverty, housing instability, family violence) that may impact patient well-being. 
  •  Provide individual and family counseling related to health challenges, emotional distress, mental health, or life crises. 
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals and PHCC staff to develop and implement integrated care plans such as MHGAP. 
  • Ensure that participants have access to relevant mental health and psychosocial resources, including referral pathways and support services. 
  • Update and adapt intervention plans on a monthly basis to reflect the evolving needs of the population, considering feedback from participants and staff, as well as the current context of the emergency response. 
  • Participate in awareness-raising activities about the importance of mental health in the PHCC. 
  • Build relationships with local agencies, NGOs, and governmental services for any referrals and follow up to ensure patients receive the necessary services. 
  • Document and report on the progress of PSS sessions and any emergent needs within the shelters or field areas. 
  • Engage with local communities and stakeholders to build trust and ensure smooth implementation of activities, while identifying potential challenges or barriers to service provision. 

Reporting and Documentation: 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sessions conducted, including participant attendance, session content, and feedback received. 
  • Prepare regular progress reports detailing the outcomes of the PSS sessions, including challenges faced and recommendations for future improvements. 
  • Document referrals made to the MH team, ensuring follow-up and monitoring of referred cases to track their progress and well-being. 
  • Support with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports, providing detailed updates on session outcomes, challenges, and success stories.  
  • Responsible for archiving required documents/reports 
  • Ensure efficient data collection by filling in the mental health database daily (assessment form, follow-up form) and KOBO 

 

Coordination: 

  • Coordinate with the MHPSS team lead and other team members to ensure the seamless delivery of sessions, aligning them with RI’s overall program goals. 
  • Communicate with RI’s MH team to provide updates on participants’ progress and discuss any additional support needed for specific cases. 
  • Work collaboratively with other Social Workers and psychologist to share best practices, develop session materials, and ensure a consistent approach.  
  • Actively participate in coordination meetings, staff meetings, and lessons learned events, sharing insights and experiences to contribute to the team’s overall learning and service improvement.

  • Ensure adherence to Protection and Safeguarding policies, maintaining confidentiality, promoting a safe space for beneficiaries, and adhering to RI’s standards and code of conduct at all times. 
  • Acts with integrity and holds themselves accountable for being respectful, inclusive and professional
