BACKGROUND
Mada Association is seeking two Agriculture Engineers to support the implementation of agricultural activities with a strong focus on sustainable agriculture and agroecology. The roles aim to strengthen farmers’ resilience to climate change, enhance food security, and promote environmentally sound practices.
JOB SUMMARY
The Agriculture Engineers will be based in Tripoli office, with regular field visits to farming communities and project sites. They will report directly to the Project Manager and work closely with Mada’s technical team.
The Engineers will provide technical expertise in sustainable agriculture and agroecology, assist in the selection of beneficiaries, deliver trainings and awareness sessions, and coordinate with local stakeholders to ensure smooth and effective implementation of activities. Work will be distributed between the two officers to ensure broader coverage of project sites and increased technical support to farmers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Activity Implementation
- Support the identification and selection of beneficiaries in coordination with Mada’s team.
- Provide technical assistance to farmers on agroecological and sustainable farming practices, including water management.
- Deliver training sessions and awareness activities for farmers and local communities.
- Conduct field follow-ups and on-site visits to ensure adoption of sustainable practices.
- Support the design and implementation of water management and resource efficiency activities.
- Contribute to establishing and monitoring demonstration plots when required.
- Liaise with cooperatives, municipalities, MoA staff, and other local stakeholders to facilitate agricultural interventions.
- Actively participate in community engagement and awareness efforts.
Other Tasks
- Prepare weekly reports on field implementation, challenges, progress, lessons learned, etc., to the Project Manager.
- Ensure proper filing and archiving of all project documents.
- Attend project meetings and participate actively.
- Collect success stories from the field and ensure project visibility (Mada’s and the donor’s).
QUALIFICATIONS
- University Degree in Agriculture Engineering is required.
- Minimum of 3 years working in NGOs under agricultural projects.
- Ability to work with a broad spectrum of people, both staff and stakeholders/beneficiaries.
- Solid understanding of climate change impacts on agriculture and sustainable adaptation measures.
- Experience in water management practices in agriculture.
- Strong experience in delivering trainings, awareness sessions, and community-based activities.
- Proficiency in English and Arabic (written and spoken).
- Ability to cope with stressful situations and tight deadlines.
- Ability to be present on field on a regular basis.
- Knowledge of Akkar and farming communities is mandatory.
TIMEFRAME / DURATION
The two Agriculture Engineers are expected to start in September 2025 and remain engaged until end of August 2026.
