LHF Project Officer

Job purpose:

The Project Officer is responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring of cash and in-kind assistance activities to ensure that vulnerable households receive timely, fair, and effective support.

The role focuses on conducting phone calls for verification, clearance and PDM surveys, in addition to field assessments, coordinating distributions, verifying beneficiary data, and ensuring compliance with program standards and donor requirements, while maintaining strong communication with communities and stakeholders to uphold accountability and transparency.

 

Job responsibilities:

 Program Implementation

  • Conduct household visits and field assessments to identify eligible beneficiaries based on program criteria.
  • Conduct phone calls to validate the data and send updated lists.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of assistance in compliance with organizational and donor standards.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor distribution processes to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability.
  • Collect, verify, and document beneficiary information and feedback.
  • Prepare regular progress reports, including quantitative and qualitative data, and share with the program team.

 Coordination and Communication

  • Liaise with community leaders, local authorities, and stakeholders to facilitate smooth implementation in coordination with the project manager.
  • Coordinate with logistics, finance, and MEAL teams to support program activities.
  • Represent the organization professionally during fieldwork and community meetings.

 Compliance and Accountability

  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding, protection, and gender-sensitive approaches in all activities.
  • Follow organizational policies, donor requirements, and humanitarian principles in project implementation.
  • Promote accountability by ensuring beneficiary feedback mechanisms are in place and functional.

 

Qualification and Experience

 Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Business Administration, Economics, Humanitarian Studies, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in humanitarian or development projects, preferably in cash-based assistance or basic needs programming.
  • Proven experience in fieldwork, community engagement, and beneficiary selection processes.
  • Experience working with NGOs, INGOs, or UN agencies is an asset.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of humanitarian principles, accountability, and protection standards.
  • Excellent organizational, monitoring, and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in challenging field environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with data collection tools (Kobo, ODK) is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with communities and stakeholders.
  • Fluency in Arabic and good command of English (spoken and written); French is an advantage.
