About Euromed Clusters Forward:

Euromed Clusters Forward is a 4-year project that aims at establishing and improving clusters legal policies, strengthening clusters capacity & regional cooperation, and strengthening regional value chains. Berytech is the implementing partner of Euromed Clusters Forward in Lebanon, that is funded by the European Union and coordinated by Anima Investment Network with 3 implementing partners and 9 affiliates from the Euromed region

About Made By EuroMed:

This initiative unites VEGEPOLYS VALLEY (France), MENARA (Morocco), and QOOT (Lebanon) to strengthen Euro-Mediterranean value chains by promoting sustainable agricultural practices. It aims to support the green transition of MENARA and QOOT members, capitalize on export opportunities for specific crops, and improve supply chain efficiency through near-shoring. The project fosters collaboration, innovation, and market integration, enhancing competitiveness, creating new business prospects, and promoting a resilient, sustainable agrifood sector across the region

Objective:

The objective of this assignment is to lay the groundwork for a strategic and data-driven export initiative by conducting a thorough market study, analyzing value chains and untapped markets and fostering collaboration between the Moroccan, Lebanese, and French agrifood clusters. This phase will be closely implemented with the assistance of the management of the 3 clusters as they are more familiar and acquainted with their members’ gaps and needs

Scope of work

 

Scope of Work

The consultant will be responsible for the following:

  1. Data Collection and Initial Analysis
  • Analysis of international trade data & untapped markets
  • Collection and analysis of import/export data between Lebanon, Morocco, and France with a focus on the agri-food sector
  • Conduct interviews (if needed) with key stakeholders to collect legit metrics and information about the gaps/challenges of each cluster
  • Comprehensive study of French consumer preferences, including trends in organic products, clean labels, ethnic foods, short supply chains, etc..

 

  1. Value Chain and Market Study
  • Comparison of Moroccan and Lebanese value chains with those in the French market to identify each territory’s competitive advantages
  • Comparative benchmark analysis with other potential countries (suppliers) within the same value chain highlighting the competitive edge of Moroccan, Lebanese and French markets
  1.  Mapping of Target Markets in France
  • Identification of the most promising regions in France for export and solution providers, along with the most relevant distribution channels (large retailers, specialty stores, e-commerce, etc.)
  1. Analysis of Value Chain Complementarities
  • Assessment of the strategic roles that the MENARA, QOOT, and VEGEPOLYS VALLEY clusters can play within an integrated Euro-Mediterranean value chain
  1. Collaboration and Strategic Development
  • Organization of Bilateral and Trilateral Online Meetings
  • Implementation of virtual meetings between all 3 clusters (QOOT, Cluster Menara & VEGEPOLYS VALLEY) to exchange expertise, share market study findings, and identify opportunities for joint product development
  • Identification of complementary interests & products and co-development projects
  • Definition of concrete synergies (e.g., combining Moroccan and Lebanese natural resources with French know-how in processing and packaging, sharing Lebanese and Moroccan experience that will allow French companies and stakeholders to improve and develop innovative solutions).

    • Comprehensive understanding of the export potential of Moroccan and Lebanese agri-food products in the French market, based on data-driven insights and value chain analysis
  • Collaboration Strategy:
    • Identification of strategic market opportunities in the 3 countries
    • Establishment of collaboration among regional clusters
    • Definition of concrete collaboration projects that leverage complementary strengths across the Euro-Mediterranean region
  • Development of mutual market entry roadmap across the three clusters

Qualifications

 

  • Advanced degree in international Business, Economics, Agro-Food, Supply Chain Management, or related fields
  • Proven experience in international trade analysis, market research, value chain analysis, specifically in the agri-food sector
  • Strong Experience in working with local and international clusters
  • Deep understanding of the European, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern agri-food markets, including consumer preferences and emerging trends
  • Proficiency in conducting interviews, surveys, or stakeholder consultations
  • Excellent communication and project management skills

The Application should include:

  • Technical proposal describing the methodology, content of the project and timeline of each phase
  • Financial proposal describing the costs incurred in preparing and providing the mission. The financial proposal shall be quoted in EURO.
  • CVs of the individuals involved
  • Portfolio of previous similar projects
