Job Purpose
The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality education and care for children aged 4–6 years in line with donor-approved curricula and organizational standards.
The role focuses on planning and delivering engaging learning activities, monitoring children’s progress, fostering a safe and inclusive classroom environment, engaging parents and caregivers, and ensuring the protection and well-being of every child while upholding safeguarding and child protection principles.
Job Responsibilities
Program Implementation
- Plan, organize, and deliver age-appropriate educational activities to support children’s cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development.
- Use the donor-provided curriculum effectively, ensuring structured and participatory learning experiences.
- Prepare learning spaces, materials, and equipment to create a safe and stimulating environment.
- Support children’s self-expression and participation through interactive and inclusive teaching methods.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Assess, monitor, and document children’s developmental progress using agreed tools.
- Record and report daily attendance and maintain updated children’s files.
- Identify and raise any learning, developmental, or protection concerns with the Center Manager in a timely manner.
- Contribute to weekly meetings and submit progress reports as required.
Coordination and Communication
- Engage and collaborate with parents and caregivers to strengthen the home–school relationship.
- Work closely with colleagues, center staff, and supervisors to ensure smooth implementation of activities.
- Receive and apply feedback from supervisors to improve teaching quality.
Compliance and Accountability
- Ensure strict adherence to safeguarding, child protection, and child rights standards in all activities.
- Report any suspected case of neglect, abuse, or violation of child protection principles to the line manager immediately.
- Act in accordance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and professional ethics.
Qualification and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field (required).
Experience
- Minimum of 1–2 years of proven experience in teaching or working with children, preferably in early childhood education.
- Experience in NGO or humanitarian settings is an asset.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of child development and inclusive teaching practices.
- Creativity and adaptability in lesson planning and classroom management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage young children and work collaboratively with parents/caregivers.
- Strong organizational, record-keeping, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work professionally within a team and under supervision.
- Fluency in Arabic; good command of English is an advantage.
