The Career Guidance Officer will be responsible for supporting beneficiaries throughout their vocational training and internship journeys, guiding them in developing viable small business projects, and assisting them in accessing cash grants for implementation. The officer will coordinate closely with the team to ensure smooth delivery of activities, including vocational training, career fairs, and mentorship programs, while providing individualized follow-up to trainees during all project phases.
The livelihood project aims to enhance workforce participation and employability by creating job opportunities for the most vulnerable groups and capacitating the vulnerable population through community-based activities and vocational training. As part of the projects’ activities, the career guidance officer will play a key role in this project, as they will support youth in acquiring professional skills and practical training, in addition to creating networking opportunities between youth and employers. The officer will also facilitate youth participation in career fairs and will follow up on how they prepare their own income-generating projects, from developing the initial idea to presenting and implementing it, including assessing the project’s economic feasibility. These tasks, among others, represent an added value to the project, significantly contributing to increasing youth employment and thereby achieving one of the project’s main objectives.
Tasks and duties:
- Support beneficiaries in identifying career paths, setting goals, and developing personal development plans;
- Follow up with trainees during vocational training, internships, and career fairs;
- Provide guidance to beneficiaries in preparing and presenting small business proposals (business plan);
- Assist trainees in meeting the requirements for accessing cash grants;
- Coordinate with the project team, including social workers, field coordinator, project coordinator, psychologists, and vocational trainers, to ensure effective implementation;
- Contribute to the organization and facilitation of career fairs and networking events;
- Montor trainees’ progress and document key achievements and challenges.
- Prepare regular reports on career guidance activities and trainee outcomes.
Requirements, Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field;
- Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in career guidance, vocational training, or livelihoods projects;
- Experience working with youth and vulnerable communities;
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and mentoring skills;
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team;
- Excellent organizational and reporting skills;
- Proficiency in Arabic and English;
- Strong organizational and communication skills;
- Proficiency in management tools;
- Experience working with vulnerable communities and population is a plus;
- Desirable two years of relevant experience, previous experience in an NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage, preferably in Livelihood;
- Flexibility to travel within the project area (BML/South);
- To believe in concepts of equity, human rights, neutrality and impartiality;
