IoT/Automated Resource Tracking System Developer

Location: Lebanon – Beirut, Bekaa & South Lebanon

Description of the Assignment:

The project aims at contributing to reduce the negative impact on health and the environment caused by air, soil, and water pollution and contamination in Lebanon, in accordance with SDG 3.9. In order to do so, CESVI will support 20 MSMEs working at different levels of the waste value chain of plastic, paper and cardboard, and organic, in developing strategies to reduce their negative environmental impact. The participating MSMEs will receive support in the form of technical capacity building, financial support.  Compatible MSMEs will be aided in streamlining data collection for operational resource consumption, production, loss, and resulting environmental impact.

The 20 project MSMEs are established businesses in the industrial, farming, educational, F&B, stationary, and energy sectors. Some MSMEs are committed to environmental harm reduction via their business plan (i.e. recyclers, upcyclers, waste processers, packaging reduction), while others are traditional businesses that have integrated elements of environmental harm reduction into their business plans.

The external IoT consultant will aid the achievement of the expected project outcome 3 by supporting CESVI with the development of an automated resource tracking system that enables the monitoring of raw material consumption, production, operational environmental harm (i.e. emissions, untraceable loss of materials, water consumption). The system will blend between hardware that collects real time data from resource channels – and online software for tracking and visualizing resource metrics.

Qualifications:

  1. Has credentials and valid experience as an IoT/automation system specialist
  2. The consultant or consulting entity will have completed projects delivering similar goals with the same logic of hardware and software synchronization
  3. Has a solid understanding of the required hardware components and availability within the local market
  4. Has a verifiable portfolio of developed web platforms
  5. Has a proactive mindset and the capacity to direct one’s own efforts towards achieving project outcomes with little exterior intervention
  6. Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory
