INTRODUCTION
The Women’s Programs Association (WPA) is a non-profit non-governmental organization (NGO), legally registered with the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities since 2008. Its mission is to provide support to Palestinian refugee women and youth and other vulnerable groups in Lebanon to develop their capacities, realize their rights, and fulfill their needs. This is achieved through Protection, Education, Livelihood, and Humanitarian Assistance programs implemented in eight Palestinian refugee camps and surroundings throughout Lebanon. WPA's work is guided by Transparency, Integrity, Non-Discrimination, Respect for Human Beings.
The Women's Programs Association is currently in the process of recruiting English Teacher within the context of STARS2 project funded by Taawon targeting students in grade 9 at risk of dropping out. These positions will be based at WPA’s center at Beddawi Palestinian refugees camp in Tripoli.
Job Purpose
To support students’ learning using knowledge and specialized skills in a creative conducive environment.
Responsibilities
Under the direct technical supervision of Project Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for:
Assess the competency level of selected students at grade 8 in English, and accordingly develop an individual plan for support.
Teach students according to their educational needs, abilities and attainment potential of individual students entrusted to his/her care.
Work with selected students, on individual and small group basis, in learning support interventions specifically designed to support their needs, and the basic skills in English.
Coordinate with the designated social worker the results of the psycho-socio assessment conducted for each student and ensuing intervention plan.
Provide objective and accurate feedback and reports as required on students’ achievement, progress and other matters.
Responsible for submitting daily timesheets to the line manager;
Keep an ongoing positive communication with the parents.
Liaise and follow up, in coordination with the project coordinator on issues related to implementation progress, specific queries, clarifications …etc.
Undertake any other duties, as may be required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree of educational major (English)
Minimum two years of experience working in Active and Inclusive Learning support for Intermediate students
Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic languages
Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Solid understanding of the subject being taught
Ability to establish and maintain a positive and structured learning environment.
Ability to work under pressure.
