Background

The English Teacher will provide non-formal education support to adolescent girls enrolled in our informal education program. The teacher will facilitate English learning in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that enhances girls’ language and communication skills, while also promoting self-expression, confidence, and psychosocial wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver English lessons tailored to adolescent girls’ needs and learning levels.
• Design and prepare interactive and gender-sensitive learning materials to enhance engagement.
• Use participatory, learner-centered teaching methods that encourage creativity and critical thinking.
• Integrate Psychosocial Support approaches into lessons to foster wellbeing and resilience.
• Adapt teaching strategies to respond to diverse learning styles and needs.
• Encourage a safe, inclusive, and empowering learning space for girls.
• Monitor learners’ progress and provide individualized support where needed.
• Collaborate with program staff to ensure alignment with informal education objectives.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and learning achievements.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field.
• Experience: At least 2–3 years teaching experience with adolescents/children in non-formal or formal settings.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare interactive learning materials.
• Communicates effectively with children.
• Excellent classroom management, facilitation, and communication skills.
• Commitment to gender-sensitive and inclusive education principles.

Reporting

The English Teacher will report to the Project Manager.
