1. Background

The Movement for Peace (MPDL) aims to raise awareness about women's rights and sexual and gender-based violence in Baalbek and the Central Beqaa, particularly regarding persons with disabilities. To achieve this, we are seeking a qualified consultant to design and implement public awareness campaigns.

The Movement for Peace in Lebanon and its partners are implementing a project entitled: “Reduced impact of the crisis on the most vulnerable refugee and Lebanese population”. The intervention aims to reduce the impact of the humanitarian crisis on refugees and host populations with disabilities, prioritizing women and girls who are victims and/or survivors of sexual and gender-based violence in the Beqaa Valley, Lebanon.

The specific objective is Improved resilience and protection of refugee and Lebanese PwDs, especially survivors of GBV. The intervention aims to improve the resilience and protection of the most vulnerable persons with disabilities and their families, both refugees and host communities, with a special focus on women and girls who are victims and/or survivors of GBV, in the face of the worsening humanitarian crisis in Lebanon.

Through this consultation, we seek to strengthen the role of refugee and Lebanese women as peacebuilders and human rights promoters, as an expected and fundamental outcome of this intervention. The project will carry out an awareness-raising campaign on women's rights, WGwD’s and SGBV focusing on changing attitudes towards gender inequality, and empowerment of women and girls, with special emphasis on WHRDs.

The intervention is designed to strengthen the resilience and enhance the protection mechanisms for the most vulnerable individuals with disabilities and their families. This includes both refugees and members of the host communities who are affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Lebanon. A key aspect of the initiative is to provide targeted support to women and girls who have experienced or survived gender-based violence (GBV), recognizing their heightened vulnerability in the current context. By focusing on these groups, the program seeks to address their specific needs, promote inclusive protection, and foster community-based resilience to better withstand the escalating challenges posed by the crisis.
