Background: 

The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization based in Beirut. CLDH was created in 2006 by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily), which has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human rights violations.  CLDH monitors the human rights situation in Lebanon, fights enforced disappearance, impunity, arbitrary detention and racism and rehabilitates the victims of torture. CLDH regularly organizes press conferences, workshops and advocacy meetings on human rights issues in Lebanon and collects, records and documents human rights abuses in reports and press releases. CLDH team on the ground supports initiatives aimed at determining the fate of all missing persons in Lebanon.  CLDH regularly follows up on numerous cases of arbitrary detention and torture in Lebanon in coordination with Lebanese and international organizations, and with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention WGAD and the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture.   

CLDH currently has 4 offices: Dora, Bouchrieh, Beqaa and Tripoli.

Position Summary: 

The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is seeking a qualified trainer to conduct a one-day training on UN reporting mechanisms, with a focus on engagement with UN Special Rapporteurs and other human rights mechanisms. The training will target journalists, lawyers, and CSOs to strengthen their understanding of how to effectively document, report, and follow up on human rights violations through UN mechanisms. 

The ideal candidate has solid expertise in international human rights law, particularly in working with UN Special Procedures and Treaty Bodies and demonstrated experience in capacity building and training delivery. 

 

Deliverable and Tasks: 

Main Tasks: 

Design and deliver a one-day interactive training on UN reporting mechanisms, with a focus on Special Rapporteurs, communication procedures, and follow-up processes. 

Develop and submit a training agenda and detailed methodology prior to the session for CLDH’s review and approval. 

Prepare and share training materials and handouts (presentations, reference documents, exercises, etc.) in advance. 

Facilitate engaging discussions and practical exercises illustrating best practices in drafting communications and reports to UN Special Procedures. 

Provide participants with guidance on strategic engagement with UN mechanisms, including how to monitor, submit, and follow up on cases. 

Draft a post-training summary report highlighting key points covered, participant feedback, and recommendations for further capacity development. 

Deliverables: 

Training agenda and methodology (submitted at least one week before the session). 

Finalized training materials and handouts. 

Delivery of the one-day training session. 

Post-training summary report (within five days after the session). 

 

Experience and Qualifications: 

Education: University degree in International Law or related field. CLDH recognized non-formal and self-education if evident. 

Work Experience: 3 years of experience in working on UN reporting mechanisms. 

Technical Skills: 

Familiarity with human rights reporting processes. 

Experience in coordinating activities, supporting program implementation. 

Language: Fluency in Arabic and English (oral and written) is required. Knowledge of French is an asset. 

Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, communication platforms, and virtual collaboration tools.

Excellent communication both oral and written. 

Highly organized with strong time management skills. 

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. 

Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.

The training location with meetings at Bouchrieh when needed.
