Project Manager

SSSE is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to join the team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project planning, execution, and delivery within the organization. This individual will collaborate closely with the Executive Director to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and support the development of new or existing project proposals, including drafting both narrative and financial components, preparing detailed budgets and justifications, and ensuring alignment with donor requirements.
  • Coordinate project resources, ensuring that activities, staffing, and materials are adequately planned and delivered on time according to the project work plan and donor requirements.
  • Serve as the main liaison of SSSE with donors, partners, and relevant stakeholders, ensuring consistent communication and transparency.
  • Monitor project progress in collaboration with the MEAL Officer and Education Coordinator to ensure that objectives are achieved within the planned timeframe.
  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to donors in line with their respective templates and guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Logistics and Procurement Officer to ensure smooth project implementation and that budget allocations reflect field needs.
  • Ensure adherence to both donor and SSSE values, principles, and operational guidelines in all aspects of project implementation.
  • Ensure that all financial documentation is complete, accurate, and up to date, both at the office and field levels.
  • Ensure that all payments are made in a timely manner using the adopted SSSE forms and procedures.
  • Review and verify that all payment documents comply with SSSE and donor regulations prior to approval or processing.
  • Support the SSSE Executive Director in all matters related to the organization’s bank account at First National Bank, including reviewing bank statements, processing transactions, and overseeing payroll operations.
  • Monitor project budgets regularly to ensure spending aligns with approved allocations, identify risks of underspending or overspending, and provide recommendations or adjustments as needed.
  • Analyze financial reports and budget performance to ensure effective financial planning and decision-making.
  • Follow up on projects implemented by the Social Support and Education Foundation (SSEF) in Syria to ensure consistency, coordination, and compliance with SSSE’s standards and donor requirements.
  • Perform any other specific tasks requested by the SSSE Executive Director in support of project management or organizational development.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in project management within NGOs, preferably in the education sector.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and practices, with particular focus on financial planning and implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting, and budget monitoring.
  • Experience in tracking project progress, evaluating outcomes, and preparing high-quality narrative and financial reports for donors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with donors, partners, and internal teams.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Flexible and able to adjust to evolving project needs, priorities, and contexts.
  • Strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of SSSE, upholding integrity and accountability in all tasks.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
