Situation Update

The escalating conflict in Al Fasher, North Darfur, is driving a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation and large-scale displacement, with the IOM Displacement Tracking Matrix estimating that over 70,800 individuals have been displaced from Al Fasher town and surrounding villages, including over 8,600 individuals displaced between 1 and 2 November 2025. Secondary displacement has been observed from receiving areas such as Tawila and Melit, with populations moving towards Jebel Marra, Dar Zaghawa regions (including Tina, Umbaru, and Kernoi), and localities near the Chadian border.

As reported by UNICEF Partners, during the period between 30 October and 2 November, the daily rate of new arrivals has decreased in Tawila. In addition, 100 individuals arrived in Melit locality, and 200 households arrived in Korma area during this period. Also, central Jebel Marra area received IDPs from Al Fasher. During the same period 6,200 IDPs settled in Dabanira, Souk Al Khadar, and Golo town. Over 1,700 people crossed into Chad from Tina (at Tina locality).

A total of 154 children (54 girls and 100 boys) have been identified as unaccompanied or separated across several locations in North Darfur, including Tawila, Kutum, Tine and Umbaru, and Kurma.

Violence and displacement have also increased in the Kordofan States. In North Kordofan, the security situation deteriorated following territorial changes and shift of control in key areas such as Bara and Um Dam Haj Ahmed, triggering displacement towards other parts of North Kordofan, including Um Ruwaba and Sheikan, as well as to other states such as White Nile, Omdurman, and Kassala. A dedicated Humanitarian Flash Update will be issued on the situation in the Kordofans.
