Hairdressing trainer

In this capacity, AND is organizing a series of trainings for youth.

Areas of Responsibility:

General objective of the job:

AND is seeking a qualified Hairdressing Trainer to deliver a comprehensive hairdressing training program that equips vulnerable women and adolescent girls with practical skills for employment or self-employment, fostering economic empowerment and personal confidence.

Job Responsibilities:

The Hairdressing Trainer will be expected to:

  • Develop or adapt a 60-hour curriculum based on the participants’ skill levels and learning needs.
  • Deliver hands-on training in hairdressing techniques including cutting, styling, coloring, and hair care.
  • Teach hygiene standards, customer service, and salon management basics.
  • Organize training sessions, including setup of materials and equipment.
  • Monitor participant progress and provide individual support as needed.
  • Prepare and submit a final training report with recommendations for future programming.

Deliverables

The provider of services shall be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Detailed training syllabus and schedule.
  • All instructional materials used during the training.
  • Attendance sheets and participant records.
  • Completion of a 60-hour training cycle (location: Al Jured or specified venue).
  • Final appraisal report including participant evaluations and future recommendations.

Personal Competencies:

  • Proven experience in hairdressing and vocational training.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with vulnerable populations with sensitivity and respect.
  • Fluency in Arabic; English is an asset.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to gender equality, inclusion, and human rights.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in hairdressing.
  • Prior experience training women or working with NGOs/local communities.
  • Ability to design and deliver practical, engaging training sessions.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed approaches is a plus.

Reporting

The Hairdressing trainer shall report to the project manager.
