CONSULTANT FOR CONTENT DEVELOPMENT- CLIMATE CHANGE & SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

BACKGROUND

Mada Association is seeking a Content Developer under the project ‘Humaniterra”: Cultivating Recovery and Preserving Nature to meet humanitarian needs in Akkar’, funded by the French Centre de Crise and implemented in partnership with Acted. The "Humaniterra" project aims to improve food security and social cohesion in Akkar by promoting climate-resilient agriculture and sustainable livelihoods. As a partner in the consortium, Mada Association is leading activities related to environmental awareness and community empowerment.

This consultancy falls under Result 4: Environmental awareness and conservation practices are enhanced in target municipalities.

As part of this result, Mada seeks an expert consultant to design and develop a comprehensive training package and conduct a capacity-building session for Mada’s staff on how to effectively deliver the training to stakeholders.

Following this, Mada’s team will conduct training sessions for approximately 300 stakeholders involved in the local food system.

JOB SUMMARY

The primary objective is to design and develop a complete, user-friendly, and practical training package for Mada's trainers. The materials will equip local food system actors with the necessary knowledge and skills to reduce the negative impacts of their activities on the climate and environment.

Tasks and responsibilities

The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Conduct a desk review of the "Humaniterra" project to fully understand the project's goals, context, and the specific role of this training activity.
  • Develop training material and session outlines for Mada's approval. The material must cover three distinct sessions for each of the 20 training groups (total 300 participants).  This must include:
    • Trainer's Manual with step-by-step guidance for each session, key learning objectives, facilitation notes, and instructions for interactive activities.
    • A Participant Handbook with key takeaways, practical tips, and visual aids.
    • Visual materials, such as PowerPoint presentations or illustrated flipcharts, suitable for the target audience.
    • Interactive exercises, case studies, and group discussion prompts designed to engage adult learners.
    • Pre- and post-training assessment tools (e.g., questionnaires) to measure the increase in knowledge and intended application of skills.
  • Integrate specific training topics as outlined in the project document, including:
    • Resource use optimization and sharing.
    • Collective work strategies.
    • Food waste management.
    • Minimizing environmental degradation.
  • Conduct a one-day Training of Trainers (ToT) session for Mada staff to familiarize them with the materials and ensure they are prepared to deliver the training effectively to the participants.

The training materials must be tailored to an audience of 300 individuals involved in the sale, production, manufacture, and distribution of agricultural food products. A specific focus will be placed on engaging:

  • Local leaders
  • Cooperatives
  • Farmers and dairy producers
  • Food processors
  • Local suppliers, distributors, and retailers

- The content will be subject to Mada's approval. The content developer may be required to make revisions until the content are validated by Mada and partners.

Deliverables

  • An inception report including a detailed work plan and the proposed curriculum outline.
  • A draft version of the complete training package for review and feedback from Mada.
  • The final, approved training package in both editable digital format (e.g., Word, PowerPoint) and print-ready PDF format.
  • Successful delivery of a one-day ToT session for Mada's team and a brief report on the session.
