Project Manager

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) is a German liberal foundation that promotes individual freedom, democracy, and human rights worldwide. The Foundation’s Beirut-based Lebanon & Syria Office works with partners across the region to advance good governance, economic reform and civic participation.

We are seeking a Project Manager to join our team in Beirut. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of both the Lebanese and Syrian political, social, and civil society dynamics, and experience managing complex projects in challenging contexts. The position requires strategic thinking, coordination skills, and a passion for advancing liberal values in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Office in planning, conceptualizing, implementing, and evaluating programs and activities, with a particular focus albeit not exclusive on Syria-related initiatives.
  • Design and manage projects in cooperation with local partners, ensuring alignment with FNF’s strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate and maintain relations with civil society actors, think tanks, and reform-oriented institutions.
  • Draft concept notes, reports, and project documentation in line with donor and foundation standards.
  • Monitor political and social developments in Syria and the region, contributing to strategic assessments.
  • Assist in budget planning and financial monitoring for assigned projects.
  • Represent FNF at partner events and public forums as needed.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in project management, preferably with international organizations, foundations, or NGOs.
  • Proven experience working on Syria-related programs or with Syrian partners.
  • University degree in political science, international relations, economics, or a related field.
  • Excellent command of English and Arabic (spoken and written); German is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, international team.
  • Familiarity with liberal democratic values and commitment to promoting individual freedom, social
    market economy and rule of law.
