Overview
The Psychosocial Support (PSS) Volunteer will support individuals and communities affected by the war by delivering emotional and psychological assistance. Volunteers will help create safe spaces where beneficiaries can express themselves, participate in non-focused psychosocial group activities, and attend awareness sessions promoting mental well-being.
This role is suited for individuals who are empathetic, passionate about supporting others, and interested in mental health and community resilience. Volunteers will work closely with trained professionals to ensure that all services are delivered effectively, compassionately, and in a culturally sensitive manner. The position requires a commitment of 2 to 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate focused and non-focused PSS activities for children, youth, and adults.
- Support the delivery of recreational, psycho-educational, and awareness-raising sessions.
- Identify individuals requiring specialized interventions and make appropriate referrals.
- Provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for beneficiaries.
- Assist with documenting and reporting activities.
- Contribute to the development of curricula and session materials as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
Educational background in clinical psychology, counseling, school/educational psychology, or a related field is preferred.
Native Arabic fluency is required; strong English skills are necessary for internal communication and reporting.
- Proficiency with administrative tools, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work empathetically with vulnerable populations.
- Capacity to handle sensitive information with discretion.
