About the position:

The MHPSS Coordinator plays a key role in leading the implementation, quality oversight, and technical development of community-based mental health and psychosocial support interventions. The position is responsible for designing and delivering trainings, supervising staff and focal points, coordinating activities across multiple locations, and ensuring that all MHPSS services adhere to international standards, ethical frameworks, and evidence-based practices.

Key roles and responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Create, design, and deliver training programs for community members, focal points, and SDC staff on life skills, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), safe identification and referrals, Problem Management Plus (PM+), and Self-Help Plus (SH+).
  • Deliver specialized technical sessions on:
  • Understanding trauma and its impact
  • TF-CBT principles, assessment tools (PCL-5, PHQ-9, GAD-7), and psychoeducation
  • Cognitive restructuring and exposure techniques
  • Relaxation and stress reduction methods
  • Gender-specific considerations and ethical boundaries
  • Provide continuous technical supervision through group supervision, case reviews, refresher sessions, and ongoing coaching to trained staff and focal points.
  • Program Implementation & Quality Assurance
  • Coordinate the rollout of individual and group trauma support sessions in SDCs and community settings.
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery through regular observation, mentorship visits, and technical guidance.
  • Integrate psychosocial approaches into peer support activities and school-based psychoeducation.
  • Design curriculum content for peer-to-peer support sessions.
  • Develop and maintain referral pathways for severe cases requiring specialized services.
  • Document program progress through feedback, monitoring tools, and field observations to inform adjustments.

    Supervision & Network Coordination
     
  • Lead trainings and mentorship sessions across Aley, Achrafieh, and Batroun, ensuring gender balance and inclusivity.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and support to trained focal points conducting individual sessions and peer support groups.
  • Facilitate regular supervision and reflection meetings to strengthen learning, emotional resilience, and staff well-being.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local NGOs, CBOs, municipalities, and other MHPSS actors to strengthen community-based support networks.

    Monitoring & Reporting
  • Ensure proper documentation of training outputs, beneficiary lists, feedback forms, and supervision notes in collaboration with the project manager and PSS facilitators.
  • Work closely with the M&E team to measure changes in stress levels and psychosocial well-being.
  • Contribute to narrative and technical reports, capturing achievements, challenges, lessons learned, and program impact.

    Risk Management & Ethics
  • Integrate self-care practices and psychological support into all training and supervision processes to reduce emotional distress among trainees.
  • Promote confidentiality, do-no-harm principles, and ethical boundaries across all MHPSS activities.
  • Support referrals to mental health professionals for staff or beneficiaries when required.

Required knowledge and experience:

  • Mandatory: SH+ and PM+ (ToT) certifications.
  • Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Psychosocial Support, Mental Health, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in MHPSS programming, training delivery, and field supervision.
  • Strong technical knowledge of TF-CBT, PM+, SH+, psychosocial support approaches, and protection principles.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and manage emotionally sensitive topics.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and conflict-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound ethical judgment.
  • Experience coordinating with NGOs, community structures, and MHPSS networks.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and reporting skills.
