Facilitator

AlAhlam Classrooms are safe spaces that provide vulnerable children with a range of programs, including Education, Child Protection, Early Childhood Development (ECD), Life Skills, and youth engagement support through a community-based approach in collective and informal settlements. These programs aim to reach vulnerable children in the Governorates of South and North Lebanon.

The Teacher/Facilitator will plan and implement a child-friendly setting that provides a comprehensive program to meet the educational, emotional, social, and wellbeing needs of children. He/She will facilitate activities for children both indoors and outdoors, and will receive various training sessions and technical assistance from the Education Specialist and the Center Manager

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibility #1: Setting up a learning environment
    •    Plan and maintain a safe and clean learning environment that supports children’s healthy development and well-being.
    •    Ensure that materials and supplies are prepared and available prior to activities.
    •    Maintain a positive and calm attitude and demonstrate care and respect toward children in the classroom.

Responsibility #2: Facilitating learning activities
    •    Present a weekly written work plan following the certified curriculum framework of the non-formal education program.
    •    Facilitate learning sessions with appropriate differentiation to cater to various needs (BLN/CB-ECE/ABLN).
    •    Deliver PSS and life-skills sessions embedded within the curriculum.

Responsibility #3: Following up on ongoing activities
    •    Implement pre- and post-assessments and report outcomes. Conduct ongoing formative assessments to identify children’s strengths and areas where additional support may be needed.
    •    Record children’s daily attendance and share it with the Center Manager.
    •    Maintain a confidential classroom folder for every child, containing worksheets completed in class.

The Teacher/Facilitator in a non-formal education setting may also support additional tasks and carry out responsibilities not mentioned above, depending on the needs of the Makani project.

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements
    •    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a subject-related major.
    •    Demonstrated familiarity with child development, specific needs, and appropriate materials that support these needs.
    •    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, parents, staff, and the Education Specialist.
    •    Physically and intellectually capable of following up on children’s needs and activities.
    •    Strong oral and written communication skills.
    •    Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English.
