Position’s mission:
To carry out medical and emergency life response and support to any HI designated operational task under the supervision of the Medical Coordinator (or Site supervisor), in accordance to HI DAM Lebanon Medical Protocols, SOPs and International Mine action standards (IMAS).
Reporting to: Site Supervisor /Technical Field Manager (depends on the situation)
Location: South and Aley
Missions / Responsibilities:
Mission 1: Operational implementation, under the supervision of the LRPM -Chief of Operations:
Responsibilities
Responsibility 1: Provide medical assistance on the current mine and ERW clearance operations at HI designated sites.
Aim: Ensure good Health and safety / Hygiene in the team accommodation and safe working conditions for the HI Mine Action Team in Lebanon.
Activities:
- Ensure that HI DAM Medical protocols are respected during the clearance operations.
- Ensuring that medical drills and procedures are carried out as per HI medical procedures.
- Maintenance and care for the team medical equipment, medical supplies and all other equipment within the project,
- Under the direction of the medical coordinator, maintain appropriate medical staff records as per HI procedures,
- Act as stand in replacement for the medical coordinator during sickness or leave,
- Report to the Medical coordinator on any deficiencies and medical logistical requirements in a timely fashion,
- Ensure that the medical evacuation plan for a clearance task is understood, maintained and updated as appropriate, in cooperation with the medical coordinator.
- Check the evacuation road at least once a week to verify no road works or road closures, that will impair the planned Casevac on that road,
- Provide medical training for the team or any other staff member, as directed by the Medical Coordinator,
- Any other duties as required by the Medical Coordinator ensuring high standards of hygiene, clean accommodation areas / working areas, welfare of the staff and sustaining high performance medical preventative measures of all staff for the duration of the project,
- Responsible along with the medical coordinator, for the coordination between HI and external medical facilities.
- In case of accident priorities all relevant lifesaving treatments that casualty requires to maintain life.
- Ensure both Ambulances are fully prepared for use (O2 bottles fully charged / All drugs up to date)
- Assume the responsibilities of medical coordinator when absence such as:
- Responsible for the supervision of first aid for the deminers and Ambulance drivers (sometime other medics).
- Responsible for the supervision of primary care when required.
- Prepare, check and maintain stock levels of medical equipment.
- Responsible for the supervision of necessary equipment in order to commence clearance operations.
- Make accurate medical patient records.
- Responsible for the coordination between HI and external medical facilities.
- In case of accident in the field to inform the nearest designated hospital, Chief of Ops, Operations manager and HR manager and the insurance company.
- Collect data from the staff involved in case of accident.
Responsibility 2: Ensure proper filling and reporting of operational data
Aim: Ensure that all data related to operations are reported accurately and in accordance with HI SOPs, LMAC requirements and National Mine Action Standards.
Activities:
- Assure the filing and archiving of everyday medical documents for its team.
- Prepare all the medical forms, needed in the field.
Responsibility 3: Drive the Handicap International ambulance and ensure its maintenance.
Aim: Ensure a safe driving for the HI Mine Action Team in Lebanon
Activities:
- Driving Handicap International ambulance and vehicles including vehicles fitted with trailer’s and roof rack’s with respect and accordance with the HI Standard Operating Procedures (SOP),
- Adhere to all driving laws, regulations, and procedures including HI speed restrictions;
- Ensuring vehicles and equipment maintained in a clean and serviceable condition; by ensuring a high level of hygiene, clean accommodation areas/ working areas
- Conduct a Daily, weekly and Monthly check of vehicles and trailers.
- Check levels of Oil, Coolant, Windscreen wash, Power steering fluid, Brake fluid and Fuel;
- Drive in a safe and defensive manner;
- Maintain accurate written records for the daily vehicle log (Mileage and fuel used etc.) in accordance with HI procedures on a daily basis;
- Ensure the safety and welfare of the staff and the equipment transported in the vehicle.
- Be fully conversant of the Casevac roads to the nearest authorized hospital;
- Report any vehicle / equipment faults in a timely manner to the medical coordinator;
- Solve minor technical problems;
- Wash the car following the calendar set by the LRPM;
- Ensure that the security tool box and the first aid kit are complete and on board;
Responsibility 4: Assistance of primary Paramedic during operations
Aim: Ensure safe and effective transportation of the medical team and provide operational support to the primary paramedic during clearance operations.
Activities:
- Ensure that the ambulance ready for MEDEVAC in permanent.
- Assists the paramedic in maintaining quality paramedical care regardless of the patient's race, religion, age, sex, nationality, disability and social or economic status.
- Be ready to assist the paramedic in the field as required,
- Ensure to know the best way to the nearest hospital facilities and an alternative road in case the first is closed for any reason.
- Ensure that the radio communication with the team and the base are fully manned and maintained.
- Assists the paramedic in maintaining patient safety.
- Assists the paramedic for the provision of primary and advanced care when required.
Working Conditions
- Based in HI operational areas across Lebanon.
- Field presence required in mine and ERW clearance sites.
- May involve rotations, flexible hours, and travel to multiple deployment locations.
- Exposure to high-risk environments following IMAS safety frameworks.
Code of Conduct & Confidentiality
The Paramedic must strictly follow HI’s Code of Conduct, safeguarding policies, Security rules, and ensure full confidentiality of staff medical information.

Qualifications:
Education:
- Essential: Nursing Certificate or equivalent Professional diploma.
- Desirable: Advance Trauma life Support (ATLS) is required. Normally qualified to trauma nurse/ICP/ACP level.
Experience:
- Essential: Minimum of 2 years of professional medical experience
- Essential: Minimum 1 year of experience in mine action operations.
- Essential :Possesses a current public driver license.
- Desirable: Understanding of road traffic rules and regulations.
Language:
- Essential: English and Arabic mandatory (oral and written)
Other skills:
- Previous experience with HI.
- Good knowledge of Lebanon context and coordination.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Excellent oral and written communication/reports skills in English & local languages is essential
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member

Basic salary ranges for the position is going to be paid according to the experience and to HI salary Grid.
Basic Salary: Starting 989.61 USD
