Specialized Educator

RDFL is seeking for a Specialized Educator based in Beirut.

Responsibilities of the Educator Accompanying a GBV Survivor in a Transitional Shelter:

Offer empathetic and compassionate support to GBV survivors.

Create a safe and trusting environment for survivors to express their feelings and experiences.

Assess the immediate needs and risks of the GBV survivor.

Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions and progress.

Prepare regular reports on the survivor’s progress and any challenges encountered.

Assist survivors in accessing necessary resources, including housing, financial aid, and childcare.

Respond promptly to any crisis situations involving the survivor.

Provide immediate support and coordinate with relevant authorities and emergency services as needed.

Stay informed about best practices in GBV support and trauma-informed care.

Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Work closely with other educators to ensure holistic support.

Participate in team meetings and case conferences to share insights and develop coordinated support strategies.

 

Requirements and Educational Background for an Educator Accompanying a GBV Survivor in a Transitional Shelter:

 

Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in Social Work, Education, or a related field.

Relevant Experience:

At least 2-3 years of experience working with GBV survivors or in a related field such as social work, counseling, or trauma support.

Experience in a shelter or residential setting.

 

Skills and Competencies:

Strong understanding of gender-based violence, trauma, and its impact on survivors.

Familiarity with legal, social, and psychological aspects of GBV.

Skills in providing emotional support, counseling, and case management.

Ability to conduct needs assessments and develop individualized support plans.

Excellent verbal communication skills.

Ability to build rapport and trust with survivors.

Awareness and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and gender diversity.

Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Ethical and professional conduct in all interactions.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Capacity to handle complex and sensitive situations effectively.

Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Willingness to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.
