Accountabilities

 

  • Carrying out evaluation of mental health (MH) needs of patients and establishing a diagnosis and a plan of treatment. Informing the patient and his/her relatives about the possible consequences of the illness and the drug treatment to follow and referring patients to other health professionals whenever necessary, in order to provide the most appropriate treatment and improve the patient's condition
  • Implementing the Sexual Gender-based Violence (SGBV) protocol, identifying possible survivors of SGBV, providing MH support and referring them to the medical team so that they receive the necessary treatment
  • Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to patients according to MSF protocols in order to improve their mental health condition
  • Assisting and training staff members and resource people whenever necessary in order to enhance the scope of MH activities. Working in close collaboration with translators in order to ensure proper terminology and culturally appropriate behaviour during sessions
  • Collecting statistical and monitoring data about mental health activities
  • Informing the supervisor and the medical team about any issues or problems that may arise related to patients’ treatment in order to provide the best possible solution from a medical perspective
  • Ensuring that all patient information is kept confidential

 

 

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

 

  • Provide MH care and treatment, and psychosocial support (PSS) activities to vulnerable populations in a manner that respects their rights and dignity in a variety of settings, including MSF-supported health facilities, mobile clinics, and community outreach and emergency response locations
  • Conduct all therapeutic sessions in a goal-oriented, solution-focused manner using brief therapeutic modalities such as CBT
  • Respond effectively to clients with high risk and/or complex needs, in crisis or experiencing psychiatric emergencies, in collaboration with other team members as required
  • Develop PSS topics and group curriculums as assigned
  • Provide internal and external trainings on topics such as PFA as directed by the MH supervisor or MHAM
  • Update client files, and complete data collection and entry in a timely manner and according to MSF protocols, ensuring high standards of ethical compliance and confidentiality
  • Participate in case discussions, clinical supervision, assigned trainings and meetings within the project
  • Adhere to MSF values, guidelines, protocols and SOPs at all times
  • Demonstrate open-mindedness, flexibility and intercultural competencies, including the ability to work with people from various backgrounds, origins and religions, and collaborate with translators in an inclusive and non-discriminatory manner
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team with medical, paramedical and other staff
  • Demonstrate competence with computer use and programs including Excel, Word and Outlook

Essential Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology
An official certificate of completed clinical training/practicum in a university center consisting of at least 100 hours of training under supervision by a scholar and 300 hours of applied training (an official form is available). For psychologists who graduated since 5 years or more and cannot get this certificate a substitute exists.
Lebanese colloquium certificate for clinical psychologists (unless graduated from Lebanese University)
MoPH License to practice clinical psychology profession in Lebanon
