Mapping Officer – Field & Remote Data Collection

1. Field & Remote Data Collection

• Conduct mapping and data collection in:
  • Informal tented settlements
  • Collective sites
  • Shelter intervention areas
• Support over-the-phone (remote) mapping sweeps to verify population figures, shelter conditions, and site status when field access is limited.

2. Use of ArcGIS Tools

• Collect data using ArcGIS Field Maps and ArcGIS Survey123 following approved tools and questionnaires.
• Ensure correct use of GPS, forms, and data-submission procedures.

3. Verification & Updates

• Verify population figures, shelter counts, site layouts, and basic conditions.
• Identify and report inconsistencies, gaps, or emerging risks to the Mapping Specialist.

4. Coordination with Shelter & Field Teams

• Work alongside shelter teams during assessments and implementation.
• Coordinate daily with field teams to avoid duplication and ensure data relevance.

5. Data Upload & Basic Processing

• Upload collected data promptly.
• Support basic data cleaning, organization, and validation.
• Assist in preparing simple tables, summaries, and draft maps under supervision.

6. Emergency Mapping Support

• Participate in rapid mapping and verification during emergencies.
• Support rapid needs assessments following sudden shocks.

7. Other Duties

Perform any other field mapping or data-collection tasks as may be reasonably requested, in line with project and organizational needs.

• University degree or technical diploma in GIS, Geography, Information Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 1–3 years of experience in the field or remote data collection.
• Experience using ArcGIS Field Maps / Survey123 or similar tools.
• Willingness to work extensively in the field and adapt to remote data-collection modalities.
• Fluency in Arabic; working knowledge of English.
