1. Background
Mada, in partnership with Jafra Foundation and WeWorld, is implementing the project “The Power of Youth: Unlocking Potential for Inter- and Intra-Communal Conflict Prevention in Lebanon,” funded by the European Union.
The project aims to strengthen the capacities and participation of youth-led civil society organizations (CSOs), networks, and youth groups in peacebuilding and social cohesion initiatives in Greater Beirut and Tripoli. The project specifically targets four Palestinian refugee camps—Beddawi, Nahr El Bared, Burj El Barajneh, and Shatila—and their surrounding host communities, engaging Lebanese, Syrian, Palestinian, and migrant populations.
2. Job Summary
The objective of this consultancy is to produce high-quality photographic documentation and a video that highlight the project’s achievements to a wider audience and ensure high visibility for Mada, the partners, and the European Union.
The consultant should capture the implementation, diversity, and impact of youth-led peacebuilding initiatives, capacity building sessions and cross-regional exchange events implemented under the project.
The consultant will produce:
- at least 300 photographs over 7 working days distributed flexibly over a 12-month period, based on an agreed schedule aligned with project activities.
- an interactive and appealing documentary-style video of 4–6 minutes that showcases project activities, youth-led peacebuilding initiatives, and inter-communal cooperation.
3. Tasks and Responsibilities
The Videographer Consultant is expected to:
- Coordinate with Staff: Discuss with the project team possible approaches to video production and plan photography coverage in line with the project workplan and key milestones.
- Strategic Alignment: Closely coordinate with the Project Manager and the project’s MEAL Working Group to ensure content aligns with the project’s peacebuilding objectives and capitalization strategy. Ensure diverse and respectful representation of youth, women, refugees, migrants, and host communities.
- Field Coverage: Conduct visits to project sites in Beirut and Tripoli, including Palestinian refugee camps and surrounding host communities to interview beneficiaries, staff, and partners, and take photographs at key events.
- Conceptualize: Provide a detailed outline of the video, including script/content, delivery style, and timeframe before filming.
- Visual Enhancements: Use animation, infographics, or diagrams where appropriate to explain complex peacebuilding or social cohesion concepts.
- Editing: Finalize the video with appropriate voice-overs, music, and effects, ensuring a consistent flow and structure. Edit and curate photographs to ensure high quality, consistency, and usability across reporting and communication outputs.
- Safeguarding: Obtain written consent from all individuals featured in the videos and photos using Mada’s standard consent forms.
4. Deliverables
Videography
The consultant will deliver the video over a 12-month period and provide the following milestones for the single project video:
- Deliverable 1: Script and Storyboard. A written script and visual outline for approval by the Project Manager before filming begins.
- Deliverable 2: First Draft (Rough Cut). A preliminary version of the video for review and comments by the project team.
- Deliverable 3: Final Produced Video. A high-resolution 4–6-minute video incorporating all feedback, including voice-over, music, and bilingual (Arabic/English) subtitles. At least 3 shorter reels are also expected for social media use.
- Deliverable 4: Consent Documentation. A complete set of signed consent forms for all individuals featured in the production.
Photography
The consultant will deliver a minimum of 300 high-quality edited photographs:
- Photographs delivered in high-resolution format suitable for print and digital use.
- A well-organized photo archive, including clear file naming and basic captions (date, location, activity).
- Visual content compliant with EU visibility and communication guidelines.
- A complete set of signed consent forms for all identifiable individuals featured.
5. Qualifications
- University degree in Digital Media, Visual arts, Fine Arts, Animation, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in videography/photography and editing, with a strong portfolio demonstrating storytelling skills and ability to document projects, events, and community-based activities.
- Previous experience working with NGOs in development or humanitarian contexts is preferable.
- Basic knowledge of Peacebuilding, Social Cohesion, or Human Rights is desirable.
- Ability to incorporate feedback from multiple project partners (Mada, Jafra, and WeWorld) and deliver outputs in line with agreed objectives and timelines.
