TEAMUP FACILITATOR

Introduction

TeamUp is a psychosocial support intervention developed by War Child, Save the Children and UNICEF Netherlands. This non-verbal intervention provides social-emotional support to children facing adversity through movement-based activities. The objective of the TeamUp sessions is to improve the psychosocial well-being of these children. The TeamUp sessions are provided on a fixed time during the week, with a fixed team of Facilitators and a fixed session structure to provide structure and predictability for the children and youth who participate in the sessions.

Role

As a TeamUp Facilitator, you are part of an enthusiastic team of TeamUp Facilitators. You and another facilitator will together facilitate movement-based activities for children facing adversity aged between 10 and 15 at a fixed time twice a week. Each activity has a specific theme and purpose. These activities make up a programme that helps teach children learn how to deal with difficult emotions such as anger, fear, and stress.

A TeamUp Facilitator contributes to the social and emotional development of the participating children - and thereby helps reduce the risk of them experiencing social and emotional problems in the long term. Facilitators receive on-the-job mentoring where they can discuss the TeamUp methodology and/or challenges they face during the facilitation of the activities.

As a Facilitator, you have child safeguarding and child protection responsibilities. You should recognise signs of unusual behaviour of children and, if necessary, refer children to specialised care and support services. Facilitators receive comprehensive training on how to carry out these functions before they start working with children.
