Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Supervisor – Capacity Building and Quality Assurance – Bekaa - Activity Rate 100%

Today, MSF provides independent, impartial assistance in more than 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, and exclusion from health care or natural disasters. MSF in Lebanon currently has 2 projects mainly on primary health care and mental health, in Nabatiyeh and the Bekaa valley.

Type of contract: 100%, fixed term 12 months, renewable upon need

Salary:  181,685,000 LBP per month (USD 2,030 per month)

 

Scope of responsibility: MSF

Under the supervision of the Nursing Activity Manager (NAM), the IPC Supervisor will plan, implement, and monitor infection prevention and control (IPC) activities at Bekaa General Hospital (BGH), ensuring compliance with MSF standards and alignment with MoPH hospital IPC policies.

The IPC Supervisor will work in close technical collaboration with the MoPH IPC Supervisor and the hospital IPC Committee, reinforcing high-risk areas, strengthening quality assurance mechanisms, and supporting antimicrobial resistance (AMR) prevention efforts.

Upon request and depending on operational needs (e.g., outbreak response, technical assessment, or targeted support), the IPC Supervisor may provide short-term technical support to MSF-supported PHCCs.

 

Specific Accountabilities

  • Support and strengthen hospital-wide IPC preparedness at BGH in close technical collaboration with the MoPH IPC Supervisor and the hospital IPC Committee, reinforcing quality assurance mechanisms without duplicating institutional leadership, including preparedness for emerging and high-consequence infectious diseases.
  • Ensure early identification and appropriate IPC response to severe respiratory and other high-risk infectious syndromes in ER, pediatric, PICU, and inpatient wards.
  • Oversee implementation of standard, contact, droplet, and airborne precautions, with particular attention to aerosol-generating procedures.
  • Support safe patient flow, early isolation, and cohorting, including protection and guidance for caregivers in pediatric wards.
  • Contribute to outbreak preparedness, alerting, and escalation pathways in alignment with MoPH surveillance systems.
  • Collaborate with the AMS Committee to reinforce rational antibiotic use and reduce AMR risks, linking IPC findings to stewardship actions.
  • Support IPC practices specific to pediatric and PICU care, including invasive device management (central lines, urinary catheters, ventilatory support), aseptic technique reinforcement, and safe family-centered care practices.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching and capacity building for hospital staff across disciplines.
  • Conduct regular IPC audits and observational rounds (HHOT, cleaning audits, waste management) at BGH.
  • Provide short-term technical support to PHCCs if requested by PMR (example.: outbreak investigation or targeted assessment).
  • Analyze collected data, identify trends, and develop time-bound corrective action plans with clearly assigned responsibilities and follow-up review mechanisms.
  • Contribute to periodic review and adaptation of IPC tools, checklists, and protocols to reflect evolving contexts and lessons learned

 

 

 

Requirements

 

Education

  • Essential: Nursing or Midwife diploma /bachelor
  • Preferable: Certificate or Degree in IPC

 

Experience

  • Essential: Experience in IPC
  • Desirable: Previous working experience working with MSF or other NGOs

 

Languages                         

  • Essential: Full professional proficiency using the Arabic and English Language
  • Desirable: Elementary to limited professional proficiency using the French Language
