Key Responsibilities
1. Program Implementation and Quality Assurance
- Lead the day-to-day implementation of education activities in target schools and learning spaces.
- Ensure education interventions are delivered according to approved plans, timelines, and quality standards.
- Support the establishment and maintenance of safe and inclusive learning environments.
- Monitor teaching practices and promote child-centered and participatory learning approaches.
- Ensure integration of cross-cutting themes including child protection, PSS, GBV risk mitigation, gender, and inclusion.
2. Technical Support and Capacity Building
- Provide ongoing coaching and technical support to teachers, Field Officers, and Facilitators.
- Support training delivery on:
- Child-friendly methodologies
- Classroom management
- Positive discipline
- Basic PSS in education
- Guide school staff on safe identification and referral of at-risk children.
- Support development and adaptation of learning and recreational materials.
3. Monitoring, Reporting, and Data Management
- Track education indicators including enrollment, attendance, retention, and learning progress.
- Conduct regular monitoring visits to schools and learning sites.
- Review attendance records and flag risks affecting student retention.
- Prepare timely and high-quality weekly and monthly reports.
- Support MEAL activities including assessments, PDMs, and learning evaluations.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and beneficiary data.
4. Referral and Student Support
- Support identification of children at risk of dropout or protection concerns.
- Ensure appropriate referrals are made through established CP/GBV pathways.
- Follow up with schools and families to improve student retention.
- Coordinate with the CP team on PSS and protection-related cases.
5. Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with school administrations, teachers, and community stakeholders.
- Coordinate closely with Protection, CP, and GBV teams for integrated programming.
- Participate in relevant coordination meetings when requested.
- Represent HAND professionally in the education sector.
6. Safeguarding and Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with HAND policies including Child Protection, PSEA, and Code of Conduct.
- Promote accountability to affected populations and feedback mechanisms.
- Immediately report safeguarding or protection concerns.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Teaching, Social Sciences, or related field (Master’s degree is an asset).
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in education programming.
- Experience in humanitarian or NGO education projects is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting teachers and school-based programs is required.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of education in emergencies (EiE) principles.
- Good understanding of CP and PSS integration in education.
- Strong training and coaching skills.
- Excellent monitoring and reporting ability.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
