Job Summary:
The Extracurricular & Communications Officer plans, promotes, and manages the school’s extracurricular programs while overseeing communication across platforms. This role includes activity planning, student engagement, content creation, and digital management to enhance the student experience. The ideal candidate has experience working with children and youth, strong communication skills, and can manage multiple projects, including social media, website content, and event promotion.
Key Responsibilities:
Promotion & Marketing
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communication plan for all extracurricular activities and initiatives.
- Promote events and programs to enhance student engagement and participation.
Content Creation & Digital Management
- Write, edit, and proofread content for the school’s social media platforms.
- Maintain the school website and social media handles (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) to increase engagement.
- Capture high-quality photographs and videos during events to update archives and support online stories.
Administrative & Cross-Departmental Support
- Collaborate with other departments to gather information and maintain a communications calendar.
- Support fundraising initiatives and special projects through effective communication.
Activity Planning & Implementation
- Develop, design, and implement after-school activities that align with school objectives and support student growth.
- Ensure all activities are age-appropriate, comply with institutional guidelines, and meet safety standards.
- Coordinate necessary resources including space, materials, equipment, and budgets to ensure smooth and efficient execution.
- Track, monitor, and report on student participation and engagement to inform and improve future planning
- Previous experience working with children and youth is required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Education, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–2 years of experience in communications; experience in an educational setting is preferred.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor tone for different audiences.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of MS Office and Social Media platforms.
- Creative Tools: Familiarity with design tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva is a plus.
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and work independently.
