Reports To : Project Coordinator

Job Purspose : The Area Leader acts as the primary field focal point for the B&Z and RTP, bridging technical play-based standards with daily operations. Reporting to the Project Manager, they oversee a field-based team of facilitators and community committees to ensure all project goals are met with quality and consistency.

Main Responsibilities:

Personnel Management & Capacity Building:

  • Lead the comprehensive and competitive recruitment process for facilitators and coaches on a rolling basis, ensuring a transparent and fair selection with the support of the Project Manager.
  • Engage deeply in the project’s technical curriculum training to serve as a primary resource and mentor for the field-based team.
  • Provide continuous, tailored on-the-job support and technical mentoring to coaches to ensure high-quality activity delivery.
  • Establish and facilitate structured “Community of Practice” meetings for the field team to exchange experiences and navigate technical challenges.
  • Conduct regular field supervision visits to monitor daily progress, documenting the findings and informing the Project Manager on all updates.
  • Directly assist and guide coaches in the outreach and mobilization of children to ensure high participation levels in project activities.
  • Ensure the entire field-based team strictly adheres to organizational zero-tolerance policies, specifically regarding PSEA and fraud.
  • Oversee the ongoing development of the team’s skills, ensuring technical standards are integrated into their daily workflows.

Field Implementation & Site Management:

  • Support the identification of local community spaces that are accessible, ensuring each space provides a sheltered environment and meets the minimum criteria for the safety and security of the children.
  • Advise on necessary work needed for site rehabilitations to ensure spaces are safe and fit for purpose.
  • Initiate and manage purchase requests for refreshments, activity supplies, and all other materials necessary for field delivery.
  • Coordinate with the logistics department to ensure timely and effective distribution of technical kits and resources to field locations.
  • Supervise the daily delivery of activities to ensure they align with the play-based curriculum and technical standards.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the project at the community level, building and maintaining positive relationships with local authorities and stakeholders.

Monitoring, Evaluation, & Reporting:

  • Ensure the daily collection and validation of project data to ensure all information uploaded to digital platforms is accurate and complete.
  • Track participant attendance consistently to ensure engagement levels align with requirements for program advancement.
  • Follow B&Z logistical and financial processes to implement and action its activities within budgetary and activity plans. Ensure the provision of all needed documents to relevant departments.
  • Ensure the establishment of community committees and conduct regular follow-up meetings, maintaining organized records of discussions to support transparency.
  • Provide regular reporting on field progress, highlighting operational challenges and technical successes to the management team.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Ensure all facilitators and coaches are recruited through a fair selection process in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Verify that every implementation site is confirmed as safe and secure for children before any activities begin.
  • Confirm that coaches consistently and accurately complete all attendance sheets and tracking tools.
  • Establish and maintain active community committees with documented follow-up meetings.
  • Raise and manage all purchase requests (PRs) for refreshments and supplies on time and within budget.
  • Upload validated field data to digital platforms daily with zero errors.
  • Provide the Project Manager with regular, documented updates on field supervision and project progress.
  • Support coaches in successfully outreaching and mobilizing the targeted number of child participants.

Education & Experience :

  • Possess 3–5 years of experience in humanitarian project coordination, specifically within child protection sectors.
  • Demonstrate proven experience in managing field-based teams and implementing programs in humanitarian contexts.
  • Demonstrate specific experience in establishing and leading diverse community committees to ensure local ownership.
  • Exhibit proficiency in digital tools (Kobo/Excel) for accurate project tracking, data collection, and reporting.
  • Show a proven ability to mentor and support coaches in complex operational environments.
  • Demonstrate high agility in finding and adapting safe, secure community spaces for project activities.
  • Maintain a strict commitment to organizational integrity, including zero-tolerance for fraud and PSEA.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with local leaders, parents, and community members in the required languages.
