SHiFT Emergency Response 2026 - Weekly Report 1

SHiFT launched its emergency response on March 2, 2026, to support families displaced by the escalation of violence in Lebanon. Thousands of people fled their homes with minimal belongings and are now sheltering in public schools and collective shelters across the country. Over 700,000 internally displaced people (IDPs) have been registered, including 119,700 staying in collective shelters, highlighting the scale of humanitarian needs.

To respond to urgent needs, SHiFT mobilized over 50 volunteers and coordinated its response with the Ministry of Social Affairs and humanitarian partners. Assistance focused on providing basic relief items, including 272 blankets, 62 dignity kits, and drinking water, distributed across shelters and households in Tripoli and Koura.

In collaboration with UNICEF, SHiFT also supported emergency education by distributing 72 educational and recreational kits to 12 schools used as shelters, enabling child-friendly activities and psychosocial support for displaced children.

Alongside relief distribution, SHiFT conducted rapid needs assessments, launched a volunteer mobilization campaign, and started a global fundraising effort to expand support for displaced families and strengthen ongoing humanitarian response.
