Support group facilitator - Psychologist

SCOPE OF WORK

Core Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate online support group sessions for Embrace staff and National Lifeline volunteers during April and May 2026
  • Deliver approximately 1–2 sessions per month (each session: 1.5 hours), scheduled after working hours (between 6:00PM–8:00PM)
  • Adapt facilitation approach to the needs of crisis responders operating in high-stress environments

The facilitator is expected to: 

1. Ensure Psychological Safety

  • Establish and maintain confidentiality, as well as clear group agreements and boundaries
  • Monitor group dynamics and intervene when discussions become overwhelming, triggering, or unsafe
  • Provide immediate grounding and emotional containment when necessary

2. Foster a Supportive and Inclusive Environment

  • Promote respect, empathy, and non-judgment within diverse groups
  • Address interpersonal tensions through effective facilitation and mediation skills

3. Support Emotional Processing

  • Help participants identify, name, and process emotions related to their work
  • Recognize signs of distress, behavioral changes, or withdrawal, and respond appropriately

4. Strengthen Emotional Awareness and Regulation

  • Encourage reflection on emotional experiences during and beyond sessions
  • Introduce simple, practical coping strategies relevant to crisis response work

5. Promote Active and Respectful Listening

  • Model and reinforce attentive, empathetic, and non-interruptive listening practices

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in clinical psychology or equivalent (PhD is a plus)
  • Licensed with the Lebanese Order of Psychologists (LOPSY) or valid license in country of practice (if outside of Lebanon)
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience, including group facilitation
  • Demonstrated expertise in: Trauma-informed care, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gestalt-informed approaches (or similar experiential modalities).
  • Experience supporting: Crisis responders (e.g., hotline staff, first responders), and/or NGOs operating in emergency or humanitarian settings (Previous experience providing similar support to the National Lifeline staff and volunteers is a plus).
  • Strong competencies in:
  • Group facilitation and conflict navigation
  • Verbal and written communication
  • Ethical practice and confidentiality
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (spoken and written)

TIME COMMITMENT

  • Up to 6 hours per month
  • Sessions conducted after working hours (between 6:00PM and 8:PM).
  • Flexibility: Embrace may contract more than one facilitator, and candidates with partial availability are encouraged to apply

REPORTING LINE

  • The Support Group Facilitator reports to the Lifeline General Manager.

PAYMENT METHOD

  • Payment will be made on a monthly basis via bank transfer or check in USD.
  • An 8.5% NRT deduction shall be applied to the total payment (or invoice) due under this Agreement in cases where the First Party has not provided the required official company documentation.

H. SELECTION CRITERIA

Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Technical criteria (80%): Years of experience, previous experience in similar roles
  • Financial criteria (20%): Cost per session
