Physiotherapist

  • Review patient’s medical history, evaluate their symptoms and develop a rehabilitation plan that aligns with the patient’s personal needs and goals.
  • Diagnosing movement dysfunction and developing a treatment plan
  • Evaluate mobility, strength and current level of patient function, while setting goals to improve in these areas that are scaled to patient abilities and realistically attainable.
  • Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and accept therapeutic devices by administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as nonmanual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities and in using assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses
  • Administers physical therapy treatments by giving massages; initiating traction; applying physical agents; utilizing hydrotherapy tanks and whirlpool baths, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps, and ultrasound machines; directing treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants.
  • Evaluates effects of physical therapy treatments and fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress; recommending adjustments and modifications
  • Evaluates to be changed to provide physical therapy treatments based on best evidence practice and that fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices by observing, (noting) monitoring, and evaluating patient's progress; recommending adjustments and modifications.
  • Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Assisting patients with the use of equipment such as wheelchairs or walkers
  • Maintaining patient records and keeping track of goals and progress
  • Organize, prepare and follow up lists and procurement of machineries, equipments, tools for physiotherapy department
  • Supervise, monitor the physiotherapy staffs
  • Establish and ensure adherence working plans and schedules
  • Develop collaboration with technical manager and orthopedic staffs regarding patient care and patient management
  • Develop links and technical collaboration with hospital related in the field
  • Ensure the quality of services provided and develop quality control system
  • Plan, organize and coordinate the physiotherapy unit
  • Demonstrative training (on the job) of the physiotherapy technicians and assistance physiotherapy technician in professional techniques and best practices
  • Participate in patient assessment with the rehabilitation team
  • Together with the rehabilitation team give final decision to change the treatment plan
  • Participate weekly meeting on professional level with the rest of the rehabilitation team to discuss patient’s treatment plan, progress and discharge
  • Participate in pre- prosthetic and post prosthetic training
  • Personal performance and supervision made in the daily activities on physiotherapy technicians, and assistance physiotherapy technicians
  • The physiotherapy head will at all times practice safety measure to assure the safety of his/ her person the safety of his fellow workers, and the patients of the physical rehabilitation center
  • The physiotherapy head is responsible for proper use and care of equipment of the center through both personal and supervisory manners; this is inclusive of daily inventory of equipment, and cleaning equipment and work places through supervisory responsibilities. Malfunctions or damage equipment found to be in need of repairs beyond in “in house” capabilities, the physiotherapy head is responsible to report these matters to the center manager for further action to bring equipment up to standard
  • All use of equipment and materials require to reach objectives of patients treatment
  • Responsible reporting to center manager
  • Works in close collaboration with the receptionist concerned the patient management system
  • Perform other duties when assigned by center manager
  • Keeps his/her space working clean and arranged accordingly.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Assess patients with actual or potential impairments, pain, functional limitations, disabilities or other health-related conditions using detailed history-taking, as well as general and specific tests and measures for establishing a functional diagnosis. Evaluate strength, balance, and range of motion, coordination, endurance, and posture of each individual patient. Undertake a comprehensive gait analysis of each patient before prescription of prosthetic or orthotic device.

 

  • Analyse the assessment findings to identify the nature and extent of the client’s impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions within the context of the needs of the patient. Analyse the impact of injury, disease, disorders, or lifestyle on movement and function.

 

  • Diagnose based on assessment findings and clinical reasoning to determine abilities, functional needs and potential for change. Formulate prognosis and recommend best course of intervention.

 

  • Prescribe prosthetic or orthotic appliances in close collaboration with the prosthetist/ Orthotist, based on relevant assessment findings. 

 

  • Plan an intervention strategy that is consistent with the patient’s goals, general health status, functional needs, and assessment findings. The selected approaches and techniques in the plan should be supported by the best evidence available. This includes pre- prosthetic management to prepare the patient for a prosthetic or orthotic device, fitting of the device together with a prosthetist/ orthotist, gait training, post- prosthetic physiotherapy management and rrecommending and/or providing additional assistive equipment.

 

  • Implement selected interventions safely to relieve pain; achieve and maintain mobility, health and fitness, functional independence and physical performance. These approaches are used both for individual and group activities.

 

  • Evaluate interventions by using appropriate outcome measures to determine results, impact or effectiveness of physiotherapy intervention and fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices. Document progress, re-evaluate findings, and modify treatment strategies as appropriate.

 

  • Provide training for other physiotherapists, health professionals, the public and clients and their families with the intention of transferring knowledge, skills and understanding within the field of prosthetics and orthotics. Provide support, guidance and training to assistants and students.

 

  • Design home exercise programs and provide the relevant instruction to patients, families, and caregivers. Encourage patients and care givers in an active approach to regain and maintain independence after discharge.

  • Act with integrity, accountability and judgement in the best interests of the patient, bound by ethical principles.
  • Ensure that own practices meets the required professional standards of physiotherapy practice.
  • Be aware of and comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Document accurately and comprehensively through patient treatment records in line with PRC standards.
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect CRP activities by keeping patient related information confidential.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teams and facilitate a common goal of reaching maximal patient functional independence.
  • Plan and prioritize own patient load.
  • Implement & Respect safe working environment & procedures.
