About Mada association
Mada Association is a non-partisan, non-sectarian Lebanese NGO established in 2000 with a deep-rooted presence in North Lebanon and Akkar. Our mission is to facilitate dynamics of change by reinforcing the relationship between local communities and their environment, with a core focus on supporting marginalized groups and providing a space for local initiatives. This approach is central to our extensive experience in community mobilization and institutional capacity building.
Project: Humaniterra – Cultivating Recovery and Preserving Nature to meet humanitarian needs in Akkar
The Humaniterra project, funded by the French Centre de Crise et de Soutien and implemented in partnership with ACTED, aims to improve food security and social cohesion in Akkar by promoting climate-resilient agriculture and sustainable livelihoods.
Consultancy objectives:
This consultancy falls under Result 4: Environmental awareness and conservation practices are enhanced in target municipalities, especially in agriculture, water management and food systems. Specifically, Mada will deliver training sessions to 300 participants involved in the local food system. To ensure the training is effective, consistent, and locally relevant, Mada is seeking a consultant to develop and deliver part of a comprehensive curriculum for 3-day training.

Key Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Assessment: Conduct an assessment of 3–6 farmers in the targeted areas to gain a practical understanding of what measures can be taken at the farm level to combat the effects of climate change.
- Training materials development in English and Arabicand session outlines for Mada's approval. The material must cover three distinct sessions for each of the 12 participants’ groups. This must include:
- A Participant Handbook in Arabic and English with key takeaways, practical tips, and visual aids.
- Visual materials, such as PowerPoint presentations in Arabic and English, suitable for the target audience.
- Interactive exercises, group discussion prompts designed to engage adult learners.
- Pre- and post-training assessment tools (e.g., questionnaires) to measure the increase in knowledge and intended application of skills.
- Training Delivery: Conduct 3 interactive sessions for each of the 12 groups in Akkar, North Lebanon.
Integrate specific training topics as outlined in the project document, including:
- Resource uses optimization, resource sharing and collective work practices.
- Food waste reduction and management.
- Climate-smart agriculture practices and sustainable production methods.
- Protection of local water sources especially measures relevant to the Al Oustuan River basin.
- Community-based approaches to minimizing environmental degradation.
The training materials must be tailored to an audience involved in the sale, production, manufacture, and distribution of agricultural food products. A specific focus will be placed on engaging, local leaders, cooperatives, farmers, dairy producers, food processors, local suppliers, distributors, and retailers.
The curriculum must integrate theoretical and practical field-based components, reflect findings from the context-specific assessment, incorporate gender-sensitive approaches, and promote community ownership and sustainability.
The content will be subject to Mada's approval. The Expert may be required to make revisions until the content is validated by Mada and partners.
Training Delivery
Conduct 3 interactive sessions for each of the 12 groups in Akkar, North Lebanon.
Coordination and Reporting
- Coordinate closely with Mada staff to organize training schedules, and manage logistics.
- Provide regular updates on training implementation, participant attendance, engagement levels, and any emerging challenges.
- Prepare a final report summarizing training delivery, key learnings, and recommendations for future interventions.
Technical Deliverables
The following deliverables are expected:
Assessment Summary Report
2–3 pages report on challenges, findings, and recommendations.
The assessment findings will serve as the basis for tailoring the curriculum
Report approved by Mada
Training Package in Arabic and English (Draft and Final)
Complete training curriculum and tools (Participant Handbook, PowerPoint, exercises).
Approved package in editable and PDF formats.
Training Delivery
Conduct 3 sessions per group for 12 groups
Attendance sheets, photos, and evaluation forms.
Final Training Report
Summary of sessions, methodology, participant profiles, and outcomes. Includes testimonials and recommendations.
Final report validated by Mada.

Required Competencies:
- Proven experience in content development, curriculum design, or knowledge dissemination in agriculture, climate change, or food security.
- Strong research, analytical, and technical skills.
- Understanding of local communities and prior working experience in Akkar.
- Experience in adult learning facilitation.
Education & Technical Expertise:
- Master’s degree in agriculture engineering, Environmental Science, Climate Studies, or related field.
Soft Skills & Language Requirements:
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
- Strong coordination and reporting abilities.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
