Food Safety Officer

  • Develop, implement, and enforce quality control protocols and procedures.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, oversee meal preparation in selected kitchens, verify the quality, quantity and portions of commodities received and distributed, monitor pest control activities, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety standards and quality control measures, maintaining high safety standards throughout food production and processing. Identify potential health hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure that meat is properly preserved, handled, stored, and prepared at all stages, including receiving, refrigerating, packing, thawing and distribution, to prevent spoilage and foodborne illness.
  • Conduct routine inspections of supplier facilities, food processing facilities, and distribution sites. Perform quality checks at various stages of food production, processing, and packaging.
  • Conduct unannounced "spotcheck" visits to food preparation locations (suppliers and kitchens).
  • Develop and deliver training programs for ISWA team members and supplier workers on hygiene standards, food safety, and food quality to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Maintain detailed records of quality control assessments, findings, and proposed corrective and preventive actions.
  • Submit reports on quality control and nonconformities to ensure continuous improvement.

 

 Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field. Certifications in food safety or quality control are a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality control, food safety, or a related field within the food industry.
  • Available to start immediately.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience with international NGOs is a plus.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  •  Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  •  Exceptional communication and training abilities.
