Objective:
To provide medical support to demining operations by:
- Delivering emergency medical care and treatment to team members.
- Managing medical equipment, supplies, and records.
- Ensuring compliance with medical SOPs, health and safety regulations, and CASEVAC procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Care & Health Management
- Provide technical medical support to field activities, reporting to the Medical Coordinator (MCo).
- Diagnose, treat, and provide guidance on medical problems of team members.
- Advise personnel on hygiene practices and disease prevention.
- Refer any medical issues beyond scope to the Medical Coordinator or Medical Supervisor.
- Ensure own safety and preparedness prior to beginning work.
- Participate in daily CASEVAC exercises with the MCo and Site Supervisors.
Operational Support & Presence
- Be present at the task site during all working hours.
- Maintain easy access to areas where team members are working.
- Ensure ambulance/evacuation vehicle is properly stationed and operational.
- Operate the ambulance/evacuation vehicle if required, maintaining cleanliness and readiness.
Medical Equipment & Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain and inspect all assigned medical equipment daily, ensuring it is clean, functional, and secure.
- Track and account for controlled medications.
- Report any damage or discrepancies in medical equipment to the HMA Site Supervisor and Medical Coordinator promptly.
- Maintain accurate records for all team members and visitors, including details such as name, nationality, unit/organization, blood type, and dates of birth.
Reporting & Documentation
- Submit proper records and reports on all medical activities as required by OM/QAO/MCo.
- Report immediate medical concerns from worksites and teams to the HMA Site Supervisor.
- Submit equipment requests, leave, and absenteeism reports directly to the Medical Coordinator.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in a medical role, preferably in operational or field environments.
- Training & Certification:
- Certified Paramedic, Nurse, or equivalent medical training.
- Overview of Basic Mine Clearance / Basic BAC course.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Competent in emergency medical care and basic health management.
- Proficient in record-keeping, filing, and data entry.
- Ability to operate ambulance/evacuation vehicles.
- Languages: Arabic (proficient reading/writing); English is an asset.
- Computer Skills: Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Physical & Mental Fitness: Must meet the demands of fieldwork and high-pressure medical emergencies.
- Other Requirements: Ability to work respectfully in diverse communities and comply with SHEILD’s safeguarding policies.
Working Conditions
- Deployment to remote and potentially hazardous locations affected by landmines and ERW.
- Work in extreme weather conditions and challenging terrain.
- Flexible working hours depending on operational needs.
- Daily travel between base and task sites may be required.

The area of operations, the position is currently based in “Beit El Din”, once the situation allows it may be relocated to “Nabatieh-South”.
