NAHNOO is a registered Lebanese Non-Governmental & Non-Profit Organization. NAHNOO has been working since 2009 as a research, capacity-building and advocacy platform for participatory policymaking, towards an inclusive society in Lebanon. The NGO rallies volunteers across Lebanon and through multidisciplinary and participatory research, capacity-building workshops, and grassroots activities, we provide a platform for youth and professionals to lead the planning and implementation of advocacy campaigns and gain the skills needed to impact policy-making at the local and national levels.

Objective/purpose of consultancy:

NAHNOO seeks to recruit a qualified trainer to deliver interactive in-person trainings on Do No Harm (DNH) and Community Protection for local committees and community actors engaged in community-based initiatives, crisis response, social cohesion, and local development activities in North Lebanon &/or Akkar governorates.

The training aims to strengthen participants’ understanding of conflict sensitivity, protection principles, and responsible engagement within fragile and diverse community contexts, particularly in areas affected by social tensions, displacement, economic hardship, and governance challenges.

 

Objectives of the Training

The training is expected to enable participants to:

  1. Understand the core principles and practical application of the Do No Harm approach.
  2. Identify how interventions, communication, and local dynamics can unintentionally contribute to tensions, exclusion, or unintended harm.
  3. Strengthen conflict-sensitive planning and implementation capacities.
  4. Enhance understanding of community protection principles, including inclusion, dignity, confidentiality, safeguarding, protection of vulnerable groups, and referral considerations.
  5. Develop practical skills for identifying protection risks and responding appropriately at the community level, particularly for vulnerable groups.
  6. Promote responsible communication and community engagement practices.

Target Participants

Participants will include members of local committees, youth representatives, community volunteers, municipal actors, local stakeholders, and representatives or actors working with vulnerable groups from different regions in North Lebanon.

 

Scope of work, key responsibilities & deliverable

The selected trainer will be responsible for:

  1. Designing and facilitating participatory training sessions.
  2. Preparing training materials, presentations, exercises, and practical case studies adapted to the local context.
  3. Ensuring interactive and inclusive training methodologies.
  4. Delivering pre/post assessments and brief training reports.
  5. Delivering 3 similar in-person trainings to 3 different groups
  6. Coordinating closely with the project team regarding logistics, agenda, and participant engagement

Expected deliverables:

 - Training material: presentation, agenda and handouts

-  Pre-post test questionnaire with results (measuring knowledge increase)

- Brief workshop performance report based on tests results & observations

 

Proposed period of consultancy

Assignment to start immediately till completion of commissioned work.

Training workshops to last half day (4h) to one full training day (8h) per group

 

Qualifications/level requirements

Applicants with the following experience are welcome to apply:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Local Development, Business Administration, Management, Political Science, Urban Planning and similar
  • At least 8 years of documented professional experience in delivering trainings on Do No Harm, conflict sensitivity, protection, peacebuilding, or related topics.
  • Experience working with local communities, municipalities, youth groups, vulnerable populations, or civil society actors in Lebanon.
  • Strong knowledge of community protection principles, safeguarding approaches, and inclusion of vulnerable groups.
  • Excellent facilitation and participatory training skills.
  • Ability to adapt content to diverse participant backgrounds and sensitive local contexts.
  • Ability to deliver high quality results in a timely manner.
  • Fluency in Arabic & English (written and spoken) is a must
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

 

Selection criteria & expert fees:

The consultant will be selected based on competitiveness and quality of the technical (CV & brief) & financial (quotation) proposals. They will be paid upon successful completion and NAHNOO’s approval of the commissioned work based on an agreed upon schedule.

Method of payment: via cheque to cash or bank transfer (if Blom bank), noting that NAHNOO does not cover bank charges.

  1. Financial Proposal, including:

1/ Quotation of fees: all-inclusive daily rate in USD, noting 1 day = 8h

2/ Proof of registration: copy of applicant’s official registration (such as commercial circular, financial

registration, Chamber of Commerce documents...) if applicable or document showing self-employed tax

registration.

Note: as per law, NAHNOO reserves the right to deduct 8.5% from the total quoted amount if CONSULTANT is not financially registered.
